MilesH Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Way back in my early years of car ownership I remember moto-build from my Rover owning days, or moto-bodge as they were affectionatly known. A friend is looking at a S1 elise with a moto-build 150bhp conversion. I was wondering what the general opinion on moto-build was in the elise world?
gerags Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Sorry, can't help you. It might be worth doing a search on SELOC though.
DamoS2 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Sorry, can't help you.It might be worth doing a search on SELOC though. I always remember them advertising tuning bits for the elise this was obviously down to their affection for rovers. Had some poor customer service run ins with them when I owned a rover coupe turbo a long time ago! I'll never forget their rover 200 with the bodykit that looked like it was about to take off to go to the moon haha
Mark H Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 My old S1 Elise exhaust from them developed a big hole in it. Wouldnt buy anything off them again myself just from my dealings with them. All my own opinion though.
Scott_Mac Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 They aren't great... they have racing experience yes, but some of their parts are little more than re-badged cheap tat. That said their shower cape is great Find out what makes the engine have 150bhp - cams, head work etc and that'll give you a better indication... that said LAD don't have a great reputation either but Steves car with their 160bhp kit was pretty good.
MattyB Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I thought Motobuild went tits up? I remember looking at their 1.8VVC Metro a while back. Was unbelievably poor considering it was their demonstrator. Wouldn't touch em with a barge pole, personally.
Mark A Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 They are still around (at least, they were still around at the Donny show this year). I've bought a couple of things off them in the past (when they were about the only option) and some of that was complete crap. Wouldn't go near them now. Don't know anything about their engine kits but I wouldn't pay a premium for the car, or at least not more than a couple of hundred quid over the normal Elise prices. Have a search on the British Cars board as that's probably more appropriate time wise to when Moto-Build were doing their kits. Just had a look at their website, quite a lot of alloy tat and I see they are selling the Blueflame exhaust that I used to have on my old S160. Quality exhaust, shame it didn't fit properly and that was after going up to the Blue Flame factory in Skelmersdale and having it custom made for the car after 3 failed to fit properly.
