Takuma Will Rush More For Indy Victory!

We're not bold enough to try and rebuild Mount Rushmore, but in the same way that legendary, former US presidents, such as, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have revolutionised the United States of America, Colin Chapman and Lotus have revolutionised IndyCar Racing with the pioneering Lotus Type 38, the race car that changed the face of Indy forever in 1965.*

As you know, Lotus is back in IndyCar and at the 3rd round of the 2010 IZOD Indy Racing Series in Alabama, Lotus' driver Takuma Sato is aiming for a racing "revolution" of his own.

The Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by Legacy Credit Union takes place this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama and the Lotus IndyCar, with the number 5, will line up in the iconic Lotus green and yellow colour scheme once more.

Claudio Berro, Director of Motorsport for Lotus said: "I am really looking forward to this weekend. The Lotus mechanics together with the KV Racing team have been working hard on getting the perfect set-up for Taku to suit his driving style. Barber Motorsports Park feels like a home from home as the resort houses the largest collection of classic Lotus cars anywhere in the world, so I would like to think that we have a small psychological advantage over our competitors."

Takuma Sato, ready to show his true colours, is looking forward to the race: "The track at Barber is a lot more like an F1 circuit, which is what I am used too. I do enjoy the street races, but they can be harder to get into a rhythm, so I am really looking forward to pushing myself and the car hard, making up for the issues we had at the last race at St Petersburg and making Lotus proud."

So apologies, dudes, but let's give Colin and Takuma a bit of presidential glory!

*Jim Clark was the first driver to win the Indy 500 with a rear engine car – no front engine car has won the race since.
