Singapore Gp - Qualifying - Lotus Renault Gp Report

Bruno Senna, R31-04

Q1: P15, 1.48.861, 9 laps

Q2: P15, 1.48.662, 4 laps

Vitaly Petrov, R31-06

Q1: P18, 1.49.835, 8 laps

Lotus Renault GP will have a lot of work to do tomorrow’s Singapore Grand Prix after a difficult qualifying session at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Despite the session taking place in the middle of the night, it was still hot and humid as air temperatures reached 30°C.

Both Bruno Senna and Vitaly Petrov went out early in Q1, putting in a three-lap run on the Pirelli soft tyres before switching to the supersofts for the final five-minute push.

Bruno was blocked by traffic on his first flying lap on the supersoft rubber, but he had just enough time to put in another lap. He duly nailed a time of 1m 48.861s to seal 15th place and make it into Q2. Unfortunately Vitaly only had time for one flying lap on the supersofts and, while his mark of 1m 49.835s was good enough to break into the top 17, he was bumped back down to P18 by Bruno’s late lap.

In Q2 Bruno was just heading out for his first run – again on supersoft tyres – when the session was red-flagged for an accident involving Kamui Kobayashi’s Sauber. That meant Bruno had only one chance to set a lap when the session resumed for the final five minutes. He set a time of 1m 48.662s to take 15th on the grid.

In the final Q3 shoot-out, Sebastian Vettel took pole position for Red Bull with a lap of 1m 44.381s ahead of team-mate Mark Webber and the McLarens of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

  • What is the point of a Lotus these days?

I have recently changed my Daily from a dirty diesel to an electric.  It struck me that the 0-60 times were almost identical, possibly quicker, to the Exige so my thought was, if comfortable family cars with suitcase room are now performing so well, are our cars becoming obsolete? Has the acceleration potential of EV’s made traditional sports cars meaningless? In an era where electric motor torque is rewriting the rules of straight‑line acceleration, it’s easy to forget what “fast” use

LOTUS Action Camera Mod for rear view mirror

Hi, my name is Marco and I'm from Liverpool, I'm new to this forum and new to Lotus. Towards the end of last year I started to get that itch of wanting a sporty fun car again (I had owned a couple of Mk4 Supras between 2000 & 2009) I was looking for a car that was not too big as it needed to fit into my narrow garage so I could hook it up to a trickle charger as it was not going to be a daily driver. I decided that an Elise would be perfect, after searching for months for the

Toxic Green S-Cup - (Aka Grogu)

Hi all as with most of my cars I thought I’d start a bit of a build thread. However unlike most cars which I bought and built up to be highly modified the plans for the lotus are quite different and so this will be more thread of its life in my ownership. I have also created a Facebook page called “Toxic Green S-Cup - (Aka Grogu)” containing images of its progress pre and post purchase. Newbie question

As the title suggests , a newbie query. I have just bought an S2 Elise , 2007 with the Toyota 1ZZ power unit in ‘ touring spec’. That means electric windows, a radio and , err, not sure what else. Anyway, that is not the subject of the query. The car is blue with a cream interior. The latter I don’t plan to keep. In fact , already bought some equivalent second hand door cards in black and am looking hard at a pair of Corbeau LE seats . So, first part of my query centres on those Corbeau seats. A
