From Russia With Love - 2014 Russian Gp

Romain Grosjean led home Pastor Maldonado in the first Russian Grand Prix at the impressive Sochi Autodrom.

Both cars struggled for grip and performance during the course of the 53-lap race, played out under glorious blue skies. Romain was given a five-second penalty after contact between his car and Adrian Sutil’s Sauber. Romain was classified seventeenth and Pastor eighteenth.

  • Romain started from P15 on new soft compound tyres. He changed to new medium compound tyres on lap 20.
  • Pastor started from P20 on new medium compound tyres. He changed to new soft compound tyres on lap 21.

Romain Grosjean, P17, E22-03

“The car felt okay to drive today, which was a big improvement on the previous two days and a testament to the work the team has put it over the week. The main challenge was the race start. It was hard to get the tyres up to temperature over the first few laps, so much so that I thought I had a puncture at the beginning. After that, it was a straight-forward race aside from the incident with Adrian Sutil. He was on the softer tyres and had a lot more grip than me going into T3. That corner closes up a bit on exit and he didn’t want to go too much off the racing line. I was already on the maximum for the braking zone and we just touched a little. It felt more like a racing incident to me but never mind, we head to Austin and hope for better things.”

Pastor Maldonado, P18, E22-02

“We really struggled for balance on track today and it made for a very tough race for us. We started on the medium tyre, which made it difficult to make progress in the early laps. We then moved to the soft compound, but even late in the race it was a struggle to find grip. My side of the garage lost out quite a lot from our issues on Saturday as we weren’t able to improve the car and in particular the balance. It was frustrating as we really wanted to put on a good show as the Sochi Autodrom is a fantastic circuit. I can’t wait to return next year in a faster car with a different tyre allocation as there is fantastic potential here.”

Federico Gastaldi, Deputy Team Principal

"Our performance today was nothing to write home about which is a complete contrast to the facility here and the reaction we received to Formula 1 on our first visit to Russia. The Sochi Autodrom is highly impressive and there is a lot of potential for great racing over the years to come. Both our drivers kept focused and brought their cars home, but we share their frustration at the performance level here this weekend. We have three races left in 2014, but our focus is very much on 2015 as we target a return to form.”

  • LitP 2025 photos

Does anyone have any good photos of this year's LitP that they wouldn't mind sharing? Absolute Lotus magazine would like to publish a short report of the event and need some photos. Ideally I think they would like a selection of pics from the entire weekend so bbq, pootle, runs, Sunday breakfast stop the procession down Winnats Pass and Bamford. Photos of the people aswell as the cars are also welcomed. If you have any and are happy for them to go in the magazine without a credit or pa

    Fibreglass Repair

I have a fibreglass repair to make so thought I would share the progress here.  You'll see from the pictures that there is a large hole that needs to be made good, so I have a new repair section to bond in.  I'm fairly sure where I'll make the join but I have a couple of choices.  I'll make the final decision after a bit more thinking. Very happy to receive advice. A hole: Remove the aluminium under tray.  Unplug this connector so the cable can be passed through the wheel arch

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi!

Hi just wanted to pop my head in to say hi, first time poster. 🙂 I'm Little Steve, I've been running an Emira V6 FE in Hetel Yellow as a daily for the past 3 months and been thoroughly enjoying myself with it. It's my first Lotus and she's generally been very well behaved, random electrical quirks aside. I'm well into middle age and have driven allsorts over the years, I've been a massive JDM enthusiast previously but have driven plenty of nice cars from across the globe. I sold my GT8

Adventures of an S1 Elise in Germany

Some of you will know, but for the rest, I'll be working in Germany near Mannheim until end of 2026 with 75% of my time there, and 25% back home. As i fancy doing some different roads, and I've booked two weekend driving tours with Delightful Driving company (run by Elisa Artioli), on Thursday 10th July I'll be setting of in my S1 Elise, and 4 days later I plan to arrive at my apartment. I plan to post about my driving adventures over there, so keep an eye on this blog should you be in
