Peter Horbury (1950-2023)

Hethel, UK – Saturday 1 July 2023  It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter Horbury, Executive Vice-President of Design, Group Lotus.

He passed away earlier this week while visiting colleagues in China, doing what he has always done – leading, inspiring and mentoring others to challenge conventions and be the best that they can be.

Peter was the most charismatic man, and one of the most influential automotive designers that the UK has ever produced. He joined Lotus in 2021, the culmination of a career which had lasted nearly half a century, and which saw him design some of the world’s most significant and pioneering cars.

Prior to joining Lotus, Peter was Executive Vice-President of Design for the Geely Group, overseeing the design for a huge portfolio of vehicles for its many brands. He had previously held senior global positions at Ford, Volvo and Chrysler.

Feng Qingfeng, CEO, Group Lotus, commented: “Peter’s timeless design is his legacy, and it can be found on roads across the world today, enjoyed by millions of drivers. His many friends, colleagues and admirers at Lotus, across the wider Geely business, and in the global automotive industry will all miss him greatly.”

Our thoughts are with Peter’s family and friends, and we would request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

With the newish craze of what can only be described as the our sneaky lotus photos I’d though I’d have a little bash today whist tootling past a well know members house after his recent delivery of the new yellow peril 😆 not a bad attempt but I’m sure there are better out there? Did have one thought though, could make for quite an entertaining 2025 MLOC Callander! Please feel free to share your attempts.

    Lotus Emira USB Music

Hi all,  I've just joined the forums, having re3cently purchased a Lotus Emira.  I'm struggling to get USB music working as I would like.  I have a large collection of both Flac and MP3 music files on a 32GB USB.  They are organised in folders named after the album titles.  On most cars I've ever owned they play each album in turn in alphabetical order of the album title, which works out perfectly for me.  In the root directory of the USB I also have an AllMusic playlist file I can select if the

    Newbie question

As the title suggests , a newbie query. I have just bought an S2 Elise , 2007 with the Toyota 1ZZ power unit in ‘ touring spec’. That means electric windows, a radio and , err, not sure what else. Anyway, that is not the subject of the query. The car is blue with a cream interior. The latter I don’t plan to keep. In fact , already bought some equivalent second hand door cards in black and am looking hard at a pair of Corbeau LE seats . So, first part of my query centres on those Corbeau seats. A

    Elise s1 111s audio upgrade

The CD player on the original factory headunit isn't working so I would like to upgrade, therefore what would you recommend? I am not looking for apple car-play, MP3, etc. Looking for CD player, FM radio ideally just a plug and play swap. The original owner of my Elise recommended Alpine as the best brand, but I am leaning towards a Blaupunkt since they had a good reputation (not sure if that is still applicable) and I like the look, not too blingy. Appreciate that the sound quali
