Lotus Has It All Wrapped Up

It's not unusual for a Lotus Exige 'S' to turn heads, but one particular car is rousing more curiosity than

most. Covered in a patriotic red, white and blue Union Jack design, one Exige 'S' is the recent star of

the Discovery Channel's popular series 'How Do They Do It?'.

With its voluptuous curves and cut-away details, the Exige is one of the most distinctive and unique

cars on the road, so it was a perfect choice for the 'How Do They Do It?' team who were looking for a

challenging case study for their vehicle wrapping feature. 'Totally Dynamic' who specialise in the

application of vinyl wraps were assigned the project and took 10 hours to transform the iconic Exige

for the documentary which follows the project from brief to the finished car making its track debut.

The scheme was developed by Lotus Design to move away from the traditional static Union Jack to

that of a flying flag to show the essence of movement and speed. The finished car is a real attention

seeker and has amazing track presence.

Lotus has a fantastic history of producing one-off and collectors-edition cars and Union Jack Exige sits

amongst Lotus most exceptional and extraordinary looking vehicles. Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group

Lotus commented, "At Lotus we pride ourselves in spearheading the development of technology in

the vehicle market and working on this project was a truly unique opportunity. Lotus Design captured

a very special element of our heritage with the brief, 'great British racing'. The Union Jack theme and

the flying flag concept perfectly embody the Lotus spirit".

'Totally Dynamic' supplied the expertise for the intricate process in which a team of 4 installation

technicians expertly applied a vinyl wrap to the Exige 'S', transforming the car in just 10 hours. The

process was exciting but extremely complex, as 'Totally Dynamic' MD Adrian Rope explained, "Our

whole team was excited by the challenge that the Lotus Exige's stunning contours presented us. It

was a pleasure working on such a thoroughbred car and our experience with high performance

vehicles was crucial to creating the professional finish it deserved.

"It was a real privilege to have been chosen out of all the vehicle wrapping companies in the UK by the

Discovery Channel and Lotus and their faith in us demonstrates why Totally Dynamic is the cutting

edge choice for vehicle transformation."

For a limited time the Union Jack Lotus Exige 'S' will be joining the Lotus Roadshow which consists of

the latest Lotus models and is visiting the UK network of Lotus dealers.

'How do they do it' airs Friday 28th March at 5:30pm on the Discovery Channel.

  • What is the point of a Lotus these days?

I have recently changed my Daily from a dirty diesel to an electric.  It struck me that the 0-60 times were almost identical, possibly quicker, to the Exige so my thought was, if comfortable family cars with suitcase room are now performing so well, are our cars becoming obsolete? Has the acceleration potential of EV’s made traditional sports cars meaningless? In an era where electric motor torque is rewriting the rules of straight‑line acceleration, it’s easy to forget what “fast” use

LOTUS Action Camera Mod for rear view mirror

Hi, my name is Marco and I'm from Liverpool, I'm new to this forum and new to Lotus. Towards the end of last year I started to get that itch of wanting a sporty fun car again (I had owned a couple of Mk4 Supras between 2000 & 2009) I was looking for a car that was not too big as it needed to fit into my narrow garage so I could hook it up to a trickle charger as it was not going to be a daily driver. I decided that an Elise would be perfect, after searching for months for the

Toxic Green S-Cup - (Aka Grogu)

Hi all as with most of my cars I thought I’d start a bit of a build thread. However unlike most cars which I bought and built up to be highly modified the plans for the lotus are quite different and so this will be more thread of its life in my ownership. I have also created a Facebook page called “Toxic Green S-Cup - (Aka Grogu)” containing images of its progress pre and post purchase. Newbie question

As the title suggests , a newbie query. I have just bought an S2 Elise , 2007 with the Toyota 1ZZ power unit in ‘ touring spec’. That means electric windows, a radio and , err, not sure what else. Anyway, that is not the subject of the query. The car is blue with a cream interior. The latter I don’t plan to keep. In fact , already bought some equivalent second hand door cards in black and am looking hard at a pair of Corbeau LE seats . So, first part of my query centres on those Corbeau seats. A
