If you answered 'Yes!' then you'll know that despite your best efforts, there will always be certain things you can control and certain things you can't. It's all about balance. No one is immune, not even Lotus and recent events got us thinking a bit more about control.....

Some Things Lotus CAN Control

Creativity Control: Anyone familiar with our brand will know that Lotus don't 'do' ordinary cars. We innovate and create unique, exciting and exceptionally light and high-performing sports cars.

Carbon Control: One for the number crunchers. Extensive research has shown that the new Lotus Elise releases carbon emissions of 149g/km, this figure represents the lowest for a high-performance sports car in this category. So who says you can't be carbon conscious without compromising on technology, style and most importantly, performance?

Collision Control: A Lotus driver has the best braking and handling at their disposal (we're not bragging, apparently we're the industry's benchmark) and we all know that the best way to avoid a collision is to avoid being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Our incredibly agile and responsive cars mean that a Lotus can be out of trouble before it gets into trouble.

One Big Thing Lotus CAN'T Control

Climate Control: In one word: Eyjafjallajökull (pronounced ɛɪja│fjatla│jœ│kʏtl, if you're interested).

No one can ignore (but perhaps some clever boffins could have predicted) the current chaos caused by the world's most unpronounceable volcano. Even we were affected this week as we set about inviting the first wave of media to drive the new 2011 Lotus Elise. Those lovely European journalists all set to experience the sheer joy of driving our latest offering this week at a specially organised event in Surrey were denied this great opportunity due to our fuming Icelandic friend.

They didn't get to experience the new aerodynamics which has seen the Cd improve by 4% or the pleasure of the new super efficient 1.6 litre 4 cylinder VVT-I engine, which is 200cc smaller than the engine in the outgoing Lotus Elise S yet produces the same power! Yes, it's that clever!

But it's not all doom and gloom for our stranded and frustrated journalist friends, every (ash)cloud has its silver lining, once the dust settles there will be plenty of organised drive activities on offer!
