Cancel Sky, keep the dish and buy a decent Freeview sat box, then subscribe to Prime, Blinkbox etc.

Deal changed stopping with Sky and broadband with Virgin.

Went to cancel but they didn't want to loose us to Virgin

It's the line rental that pisses me off. £13 a week for a landline that I never use. You can't get broadband without it. Any ideas?

The line rental pays for the up keep of the telecoms next work. How else do you think the repairs get paid for?

BT openreach own all the cabling and lease it to BT, sky, talk talk etc.

 

The only exception to this is virgin who use a totally different cabling infrastructure owned by themselves. They never used to charge line rental only started 6 or so years ago.

 

 

It works much the same as the electricity and gas networks.

I use TalkTalk, pay ~£30 a month, includes all UK landline calls, fibre Broadband, TV box.  Also get my satellite TV through Freesat or Freeserve (TV does both) and that of course is free

I'm going to carry on using my sky box for free Sat to start off with and then look at getting a freesat+ box.
