Scott_Mac
Scooby's really don't appeal to me anymore... plsu the current WRX Wagon looks odd! I'd much rather have something non-extreme (such as the Jag etc) as the Elise is already in attendance!
Scrappydog
After having owned substatially modded saloon (lowered, big boost and big exhaust), going to a standard turbo estate doesn't feel very extreme. I don't think the estate has quite the Max Power image the saloon has, so people don't really take much notice of it. Handling and power delivery may be significantly softer than my old Prodrive car, but it's balance in wet & slippery conditions is still sublime. Was great when we had all the snow last month and is very civilised compared to the Elise. IMHO they complement eachother really well. I'm sure the X-type is a nice car, the 4x4 estate looks good. I'd worry buying new because of residuals, but 2nd hand they will be a good proposition in a few years. I guess if I was feeling flush my choice would be a 320d touring. Alternatively, if they ever bring out the Saab 9-2 that would be nice - the accepable side of Subaru ownership! Andy

Scrappydog
The plan was to be in Chamonix this weekend, but instead I'm laid up indoorsl and going quietly crazy. Currently looking at a Ducati Monster as my sensible town transport.... or maybe a Renault Alpine A610 to carry the kids round in.. Hey, I only said the Jag estate looked nice...it's not like I'd ever buy one! I think the BMW bit was a typo, and should have read 330d Andy
Kris H
Test drove the subaru estate a few weeks back and quite impressed, but too expensive I think with the options and stuff I want. Worked out about £25k all in. Alfa looks good but I am quite keen for it to be on the road occasionally and not permanently in the shop. It's jag that my wife works for as it goes so we have those all the time as one of our cars so I don't really want to pay for one when we get one free, even though she drives it (currently have a new XJ which is brilliant, and surprisingly fast). May actually backslide and pay a few quid extra for a leon, I am thinking at the moment. Will have to test drive a focus or two as well since I'd be dumb not to given how much cash I can get off. Now looks like I could get a Ghia TDCi 115ps for about £10k which is quite a good car for that sort of money and it does 50 mpg. In danger of falling asleep whilst approaching the car though, never mind at the wheel.

Kris H
Has anyone tried extreme violence as a bartering method for getting discounts on Seats? Just wondering as I can't think of anything better.
Scott_Mac
You can get great discounts on Seats.... all of them except the Cupra
Kris H
OK - will you try the violence bit for me then? I don't want one if I can't have a cupra. Better off getting a focus. Have just found out that I can get a ghia TDCi for £9800 so I think I'm going to get stuck with that. £6k or so more for a leon just seems like a crap idea. Wish my wife would bloody well go and work for someone a bit more funky when I need a new car.
Scott_Mac
LOL I take it the discount doesn't apply to Aston's then...
Kris H
No, nor XKs. Did borrow an XK for a weekend a while back. Nice. Farkin useless overall though IMO. Still thinking it might be easier to settle for a bloody boring sensible car than chop in the wife. Never mind...

Kris H
Very nice indeed but not going to help with the four doors, four seats bit! Actually I think if I was going to get another lotus I'd go for one of those spyder elan +2s which look brilliant to me...
Mart Green
Don't know if this helps but.. Motorpoint have Clio 172's for sale at £ £10,999 brand new, 3yr warranty. Tested one last year and they're rapid cross country smile inducing cars. Just replaced though for the 182 bhp version. Still 172 in a small hatch is plenty of bangs per bucks. Good luck! Kris H
That could be an option. Hadn't really thought about those. May be a bit to small though but might be worth a look. Kristian
