Bird Posted January 5 Posted January 5 My parked ‘99 S1 was just hit by a HGV. Im shocked how little damage he did so must have only caught me by a few millimetres. Luckily I had it on camera and have submitted a claim through my insurance. I would think it needs a full rear clam respray. I don’t think it will need fibreglass repair, but I’m not 100% sure. Any recommendations on where to get quotes from for the repairs? Do you think it would need a full respray? Would they take the clam off to do the respray? I expect it’s better to pick my own place rather than go with the insurance company, right? sorry for all the questions. Only had the car since Aug. Quote
Jonathan E Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) That’s a shame the paintwork looks to be in great condition. Option 1 in Bromsgrove have always had a very good reputation, they did some work on a previous Elise of mine and although not the cheapest the workmanship was superb. Some insurance companies are funny about not using their repairers but personally it’s something I would insist on with an Elise. Edited January 5 by Jonathan E Quote

DeanB Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I should add fibreglass can hide damage - I think stess cracks can hide under paintwork so the damaged area is actually bigger than it first appears. Another reason to make sure you take it to a fibreglass specialist repairer. Quote
