Andy wright Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Nice simple question. Cracked windscreen. Bit of a snag. Can anyone recommend a windscreen replacement company in the Midlands region ( I am near Derby ) that is willing and able to tackle said job ? It’s a series 2 .
LRS7 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Hi Andy last time i needed a windscreen done i went through my insurance, Auto windscreens we assigned the job but they were on back order with Lotus, when they finally came into stock organised Central Lotus (now Central GB) to release the front clam (doesn’t need removing) and they fitted it there. Think they charge me an hours labour but speak with Adam or Connor who will sort you out. I wonder if Gav @ Unit 4 in Burton maybe closer to you ? Whomever you use no windscreen company will be able to fit without releasing the front clam so you’ll need garage assistance unless your handy with the spanner’s and can do it yourself? Hope that helps
Andy wright Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 Thanks. That’s helpful. Auto glass quoted £3200 for the job. National windscreen were a bit less at £2600. This is not an insurance job as I bought the car with the screen cracked. I will remove the clam anyway and the dash top and I have found a place in Derby that will come and do it if I provide the screen. All in all, a ball- ache.
LRS7 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Blimey those are staggering figures! Glad you’ve now sorted it.

Andy wright Posted January 7, 2025 Author Posted January 7, 2025 Bought. screen from Ricky Evans motorsport . Fitted it myself and saved a shed load of cash .
CDM2018 Posted January 22, 2025 Posted January 22, 2025 Just having my windscreen replaced by national windscreen guys via my insurance. I have been waiting for lotus parts to dispatch the screen to central lotus who will loosen the front clam so national windscreen guy can fit the glass. total cost for me £130 but I have been waiting since 20th Dec
Andy wright Posted January 22, 2025 Author Posted January 22, 2025 Presumably the £130 is your excess. Not an option for me as I bought the car with the screen damaged. Anyway, Ricky Evans motorsport provided the screen .The quotes from windscreen fitting companies were horrendous .
CDM2018 Posted January 25, 2025 Posted January 25, 2025 It seems that my wait for screen to get dispatched from Norwich to central has been due to lack of availability ? However before Xmas it showed as several in stock but after Xmas it was low? still waiting now and I have not been able to give car a good run so engine light back on after several months 🫤

Frustrating to say the least . Forgive my ignorance but is the Evora screen the same as the Elise ?
CDM2018 Posted January 25, 2025 Posted January 25, 2025 The Evora screen completely different to Elise and apparently different to Emira when you thought it would be same ?
