It goes completely against most recent trends: instead of adding more electric motors to adjust the seat (anathema to weight-conscious Lotus), it takes everything out except a small foam pad called ProBax that reshapes the back of the seat to the actual shape of the human spine. People who have tested it report a remarkable increase in comfort, while a forthcoming article in the Lancet is expected to report significant increases in blood-flow to the legs, reducing muscle fatigue and increasing alertness. Apparently some Lotus test drivers who were not told of the new seats assumed the modified cars had major chassis enhancements - they reported the cars were noticeably easier to control. Nubax, the manufacturer of ProBax says that a number of big car manufacturers may fit the pads from 2006.
