SMP Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I've have a similar problem on my 07 'S' car. The car drops into limp mode after restarting from 'warm'. I'm sure it's temperature related as it's been much worse in recent hot weather. That said on occasion it also does it when the weather is cold, but rarely when starting from cold. It will restart back to normal but it's taking 5 or 6 attempts and the light clears after a day or 2. Do you guys reckon a throttle body replacement is the fix ? Afternoon ! Before you jump in with a new throttle body, it's worth checking the software is up to date. Mine played up again so I booked it into Stratstone Leicester for a main dealer diagnosis. There was a software fix which they applied and fingers crossed, all has been fine since - cost approx £100.00 If that doesn't work, first course of action appears to be a new throttle pedal assembly (approx £300) and if that doesn't cure it, then move onto a new throttle body (approx £800.00). Good Luck ! Si
david000 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 The software update is an interesting one. The car was updated under warrenty and that did fix a very similar problem. I wonder if the ECU has reverted back to it's original program for some reason? The annoying thing is that it appears difficult to ID which version software your ECU is running. That said, £100 seems better than £800 for sure....
pablo_paul Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 from memory the throttle pedal assy (the position sensing part of the assy) is a VX part and can be replaced for much less than lotus charge if u DIY I think the part numberis floating around the Internet somewhere if not as one of the VX crew they are a helpful bunch. I had this issue on my R for a weekend but luckily it cleared itself.
pablo_paul Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 shouldn't have opened my mouth on this one the issue occurred again for the first time in 2 years over the weekend during a reasonably long drive. I think for sure it's the peddle assembly. Stopped the car turned it off and then back on and the issue will still the same stopped it again depressed the accelerator peddle rapidly a dozen times and it cleared. It must be dirty contact in the sensing part I assume some kind of potentiometer. Pain in the arse hopefully it won't happen again.
