KShez Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Has anyone any experience of how easy it would be to change the "badging" (new word I've just made up) on the rear of my 2004 Elise 111S from one that looks like the yellow car (small yellow badge) to one that looks like the white car (raised silver L O T U S lettering). Can you get the kits easily, am I like to make a mess of my pride and joy getting the old badge off, will I diminish the saleability of my car if I ever come to sell it by changing the manufactured appearance?
Jonathan E Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Use some dental floss or fishing line in a saw like fashion to cut through the backing of the old badge, then remove the remaining gunk with meths. The raised letters can be purchased via Lotus dealers ebay or seloc classifieds, but can also be purchased as metallic stickers I personally prefer these as pikey thieving scum tend to take a liking to the raised letters . If you have a workshop manual the exact positioning of the letters is shown in there, or I'm sure some kind person will be along shortly to give you a link to it. A really easy mod that transforms the rear of the S2 imho!
KShez Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 Cheers Jonathan - I always suspected that dental floss had some useful purpose :^) I think the raised letters look much better too - but the other reason I wanted to change it was for "safety" reasons. I've noticed I get quite a few cars getting within inches of my back bumper and then backing away. My theory is that they're trying to read what's on the yellow badge as the Elise is not that common in terms of looks and numbers, and Joe public doesn't often recognise the Lotus badge from a distance.
Jonathan E Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 You can choose either option from Geary at http://www.eliseparts.com He has a banner add up there ^^^^^^
smithpaulg Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 There is a seloc tekwiki on the dimensions on where to apply the as well. Paul
