juicetin
Im thinking of replacing my 195/50 front Toyos on my S1 Elise for something thinner. Can anybody recommend a good, thin-looking 185/55 ? What are T1-Rs like in this size ? Has anyone fitted a 175 front to an S1 ? Also, from experience how long would people expect the S2 Bilstein dampers to last before sounding all "clonky" like the Konis ? Mine have done 4k now and sound pretty bad. Thanks JE
Steve J
What do you mean thinner? Something like a 185/55 or A048s which only have 5mm of tread? S2 suspension should last ages. Ours has done 25k and are as fresh as the day they were put on, others have got 60k without any problems.

Mark H
My S1 suspension had 65k+ miles on it and was running well, wouldnt think your suspension would have any problems at 4k unless it was faulty. Thinner tyres?
Paul_C
why would you want to make your car all understeery??
juicetin
Some tyres have narrower looking profiles than others, eg. the p-zero 185s on my Elise had a nice flat sidewall and fitted on the rims flush. T1-S 185s looked like they had a broader footprint and bulged over the side of the rim. Not sure why if they were both the same width but there you go. The 195 T1-Rs have deadened the responsiveness of the front of my Elise so I want to fit 185s as standard again. It wont understeer if i fit decent tyres and with the way I drive. I might get some 185 T1-Rs and see what they're like.
