WHOOSH
Got home from work and what an opportunity to go for a drive, removed the roof of the exige S2 which was really easy and hit the road it felt graet and was still pretty ridged, has anybody else removed theres yet. Can you get a soft top that will fit into the space as it looks similar to the elise with all the points to connect a roof.
Mark H
Looks a bit daft on the S1 Exige for sure.
Snapper
If you didn't have roof rattles already, you will now.
yoohoo
yep have taken mine off as well it doesnt have all the point as its missing the 2 holes at the back middle for the roof bars new softtop is about 700 odd quid new i had the softop on without the 2 roof bars, but it looked very saggy and was more difficult to put on than a normal elise so i got a body shop to cut 2 small holes in the rear for the bars. Alos bought the 2 small plastic plugs from lotus for a fiver So now i have a perfect sort top install BTW the roof rattles less with roof off or softtop on
mattyp
Had a look at taking mine off, and it seems (as rumoured) that they have started making it more difficult to get the roof of the Exige (mine was new in Jan). As I understand it, normally you just take off the bit at the top of the windscreen off, then the velco bits at the back and then undo 4 bolts? But over my rear bolts there are metal covers with a big exclamation mark on them, looks like they need removing with a special screw driver/spanner. Will investigate further this weekend. Trev Foster
Does anyone know if the hydraulic roof that was at the Donny show would fit??? They were opposite thye seloc stand????
halfpenny
Matt - You need a "Security Torx" screwdriver or bit - a torx with a hole in the middle - you can buy them at Halfrauds. Each to their own I guess....but am I missing the point on trying to take the roof off ?? I bought the Exige as a coupe. If I wanted to take the roof off I'd have bought a 111R with uprated suspension and 48's.....

As I've said before, I bought an Exige because I want a coupe 95% of the time, but if I've got the flexibility of the roof off on a nice day, why limit yourself? yoohoo
no dont worry about the metal thing with exclamaition marks I have them and its just part of the fitting. It doesnt impede To me exige looks much better than 111r, and has better features That why I wouldnt buy a 111r.

WHOOSH
Does anybody have any links or contacts on purchasing a soft top for my exige. And why not take the roof off if you can, if the weathers good it's a great added bonus so why do some people see this as a strange idea? (best of both worlds a coupe and a soft top). WHOOSH
To stop the sqeaks and rattle when the roof has been removed you just apply a small amount of silicon or thin oil onto the seals as you replace the roof and the squeaks have gone
yoohoo
best bet for a softtop is ebay, seloc or pistonheads classified Luckily I got one for 300-400 in good condition Otherwise you wil have to go to a dealer at 700-800 quid barnd new Getting the 2 holes cut cost me 100 quid from a local body shop. Agreed this is the best of both worlds
