neural9
Hmm, I've managed to lose the keys and immobilser tag. ALl of them, both sets! The immobiliser tag was a square one rather than on the key (meta) or on a teardrop style unit (cobra). Do all 2002 S2's come with an immobilser or could it be an aftermarket unit? Given all of the above, I'm a bit stuck on what to do next - any advice? Rob
dobbo
You MIGHT be able to get the insurance company to sort it out - depends on the policy. Chris
neural9
Just for some information in case anone else needs it. The Elise S2 (2002) standard can have three different immobilisers. The Meta one comes as part of the key, cobra comes as a circular or teardrop key fob. There are some with a rover rectangular key fob which are off a standard Rover 200. The key, locks and steering column are from a Vauxhall - particularly the boot lock used on Astra's and Corsa's. you can take these to a regular locksmith to get keys cut by removing the barrel - they can usually do this for a call out fee if neccessary. There is no 'chipkey' in the sense that there is no transponder in the cowling around the key entry point. So getting a transponder key is not an issue. Hint. Get more than one set of keys and copy the bloody immobiliser.
