I need a tracker urgently....any recommendations of places in the West Midlands area?

Scott recommended RAC to me, anyone got any thoughts/opinions on them? I was particularly concerned when someone told me how "difficult" Trackers are to fit to the Elise...not sure why.

Opinions, solutions, ideas all welcome.

If it is difficult then I guess thats there problem! :D I had one fitted to mine by the dealer I got it from and they had no problems at all as far as I know...I had to get mine for my insurance to be valid but I think it's definitely worth it although I tend to be more worried about my Elise being vandalised rather than stolen...sorry I cant help out with places though mate

Well looking at what people have been posting on SELOC...

Tesco's underwriters have now "withdrawn" the requirement for a tracker, but Tesco's system still asks for it.

Apparently, there is no "good" places to fit them on the car, so they are too easy to find and remove...

Oh right i see what you mean! I was going to put Tracker window stickers on my car as a deterrent but they recommend u dont, obviously tells the thief you have got it! I wasn't thinking! I don't think a thief will actually look for it to remove if they don't know its there...

I got my tracker monitor fitted at Fastfit on the Stourbridge ringroad, by the Rock Cafe 2000. It was simple, took 1/2 hour and is fitted well concealed in the back by the Cobra. They're a main stockist and sell all Trackers, got mine done next day after ringing them.

Folks

For any of you who chose to have them fitted, did it bring the insurance down much? My insurance nearly makes me cry and apart from not driving into ditches or fitting upgrades, I wondering if there's a cost effective way of doing anything about it. I'll try and avoid the ditches, all things being equal, but I'm bu@@ered if I'm going to stop upgrades when I can afford them (which will probably be a very long time). :)

I dont think there are many insurers who will give a discount for fitting a tracker to a Lotus, most of them make it a prerequisite. Limited mileage seems to be the only real way of keeping the premium down, mine is £450 and i'm 32 yoa. I have a 4500mile a year policy with Footman James. It doesnt use no claim bonus either, which is good 'cos it's tied up on my other car.

Cheers. That may be the best way to go. Are they OK with mods etc? I have no ncb now after crashing last July so it's pretty painful...

My Elise is lightly modded, hurricane, Janspeed, 160 throttle bodies, all declared to F.James and i got the impression that it mattered not. they seemed v.good and i got my policy 2 days after taking it out.
