dobbo
So, back to the Oil Cooler "Group Buy", we have: 1. Rus 2. Graeme 3. Scott 4. Chris who else? What is the proposed type ? I assume oil/air on the driver's side is the easiest to fit, then oil/water in the engine bay then oil/water in the front.
GCCK
Here's the recent Oil Cooler Thread from SELOC The "experts" seem to say that unless your car is already fitted with a front-mounted air-oil cooler, with pipes routed through the sills, best bet is oil-water system within engine bay as per Eliseparts & QED, since it makes use of existing water-air rad indirectly and avoids the fiddly & expensive pipe routing. Oil-Water has the added benefit of speeding warm-up from cold. After that decision is made, a lot of the discussion was concerned with possible fouling of the oil filter by aftermarket exhaust manifolds which tend to be more bulky or a different shape to the OEM type. dobbo
As for supplier.... Original post was with QED for £195 (+VAT ??) Eliseparts is £265 +VAT. However, the QED one seems to use rubber pipes whereas the Eliseparts on uses braided pipes. With the concern over pipes running near the exhaust, would simply "heat wrapping" the rubber pipes be enough to protect them ? Or is the Eliseparts one the better option, longterm ?
