Fiona Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Hi, Another "feature" just appeared. My stearing column has started to creak Is there anything I can do to stop it (other than stop turning it). Another thing to mention at the service! Cheers Steve
strees Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Fiona Is it creaking when you turn it, or creaking on the straight ahead? If it is straight ahead, the steering rack might just need tightening. Wouldn't worry too much as you are under warranty anyway Simon
Fiona Posted October 15, 2003 Author Posted October 15, 2003 It creaks when I turn the wheel. PS Sorry to confuse, but I'm using Fiona's log-on as I can remember my password! Steve
Fiona Posted October 15, 2003 Author Posted October 15, 2003 Or type. I meant CAN'T remember my password. Bad day today. Steve
Mark H Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 If you need to reset your password then click here If you work out what is wrong with the squeeking let me know, mine squeaks like a gerbil The car is so noisy though you only notice it at low speeds!
Fiona Posted October 15, 2003 Author Posted October 15, 2003 What, I thought S1s were better than gay S2s! Found the squeak ...... hairbrush left behind the dash.
juicetin Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 rack on my S1 creaked like hell so i gave it a good squirt of WD40 down by the pedals below the steering UJs and it's great now, no noise and a bit slicker.
