I`m New And Need Help.....

Hello there.

 

First of all, I am looking to buy a used S1 Elise.

 

Second, I want to have any elise I buy inspected by a specialist before I buy.

 

The car I am looking at is in Liverpool, does anyone know of any specialist dealers in Liverpool / merseyside that would do a full check for damage / work needing done / problems with the car etc? Or alternatively if there are any MLOC members in that area that know the cars that would like to help in exchange for beer tokens!

 

I joined here as I posted the same question on SELOC but got no replies, thought this might be a bit more area specific.

Sure someone will offer to help. If not, search for NorLOG - the Lotus owners group in the North West. They're an OK bunch as well (but not as nice as us lot).

As said above your best bet is http://www.norlog.net/ if you are looking at a car in Liverpool as they will know the local area dealers and may well know the actual history of the car itself

I'm not too far from L'pool. I'm no expert but would come and have a look with you. Send me a PM via the SELOC board and I'll mail you.

 

Questions:

How many miles has it done?

Has it had recent service? If so, which one?

Look at wear on tyres, steering, brakes.

Has the head gasket been done?

 

The price of the car might seem good, but these things could add well over £1000 to your cost to get it right.

 

Have you had experience in driving Elise's much before?

If possible, grab the opportunity to drive one that's set up properly then compare it against the one you're looking at. I'll take you for a spin in mine. I just had geo/steering done and it's turning in really nicely right now.
