jonamacg83 Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 No I didnt, didnt touch the brake system at all. I am wondering if I caught the ABS unit and kinked a hose or something when changing over the bracket the ABS unit fixes to. Pumping the brake helps temporarily so I suspect air has got in, I will check the bracket is OK and maybe bleed the brakes tomorrow to double check.
Martin R Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Sounds like air then. A touch worrying as kinking a hose should make no difference at all. Hydraulic hoses are very strong. have a good check around the area you may have disturbed.
jonamacg83 Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 I bled the front two callipers, loads of rubbish came out of the passenger side and now the brakes are as good as they have ever been so all good. The ride is great, so much more poised and stable on bump country roads. My only gripe is that it doesn't half crash and make an awful clunking/banging sound over anything even half resembling a pothole, so much more than it ever did before. Is this normal, or will it go away once the units have settled? I checked all the joints and they are all tight/torqued up properly, and there is no play in anything. Bit odd.
Mark A Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Worth checking all other joints, in particular the ARB and wishbone bushes etc as the dampers and springs will now be tighter so the loads going into the other joints will be higher. The only clunks I get on mine are due to other parts (except when one of the damper bolts wasn't fully tight).
