Good luck mate. When you get it done, can you post about how easy or otherwise it was to do? I am likely to change mine shortly and am thinking of taking it to the guy Graeme has posted about since I can't be trusted to assemble the toy thingy in a kinder surprise myself, but would be interested to know...

Cheers :D

Looks a little complex but I will have a go and let everyone know how it goes. Out of interest I call some garages and no-one wanted to do it except lotus and brooke ken...it's a pain in the arse was the response from most or only if you brought the zorst from us...

I've spoken to my insurance company about changing the exhaust and they've said that if there's no performance increase, then there's no charge, but if it adds even one bhp, it's about 200 quid. Any thoughts? I assume that a janspeed or similar will add a couple of bhp. Don't want to lie to them but is it likely that janspeed or someone would give me a statement saying that there was no increase? I am told Frizzels don't charge for mods but have only just renewed my insurance.

I have a similar situation... *technically* unless you are de-catting aswell you will not increase the bhp at all.. plus are the insurance company going to rolling road the car before and after? If not there is no way they would be able to tell if there was any performance gain at all.

I am planning on using the line that I am fitting a stainless steel exhaust, if they ask further it is due to a lifetime warranty against corrosion - or some similar blurb.

Its deffo hazy, you should mention the fitting, but I reckon you will get away with no performance increase claim, just don't mention the Hurricane when you fit that too :D

When I spoke to them they didn't seem 100 % sure but said that if there was no performance increase they'd just send me a letter confirming that they had been informed of the change so that I didn't get stuffed for it being non standard if I had to make a claim for some reason.

I did tell them that it was a stainless jobbie because of corrosion on the standard one, which was fine - I didn't get any of that 'must be exact like for like' which I know some have run into. I might have to get something from the manufacturer to prove that there's no increase though. If they won't do it then I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and either cough up or or pay the penalty for transferring to Frizzels. :D

I am with Frizzel at the moment and they added 20 quid when I told them about my hurricane (with siz months to go). My insurance is due within the month so I will post the change in cost as I will inform them just to be safe.

Would be interested to know - my insurance is a bit of a horror story anyway after having made a claim recently and don't quite know how much I fancy paying another couple of hundred quid, particularly if it's going to go up in bloody great chunks every time I do anything at all. Better not mention my go-faster MLOC sticker - I am sure the barstewards will have me for that - 'rear screen visual modification sir?' :D

zorst was put on this morning...I wimped out and took it to orchard. They fitted it for one hours labour (65 quid) and I supplied all the bits i.e. gasket, stainless nuts/bolts. For reference they didn't take off the cat to do the work so you only need one gasket and three sets of nuts/bolts (I therefore have a gasket and a set of bits if anyone wants them).

I will update you on the insurance uplift shortly.

I've bottled it with the fitting as well and am taking mine into Nick Whale next week for adding a janspeed - got quotes from a few for having that and a sports cat fitted and Nick Whale were quite cheap, to my surprise. They're sorting out my loose throttle cable at the same time and it just saves pratting about...am hoping that I'll actually have some top end power when that lot's done next week anyway. B)

Just got back from Nick Whale, who have done a great job again. Feels like a different car with the throttle cable sorted - massively quicker - and the new janspeed and sports cat are LOUD. I reckon I must have been losing at least 20% of the power on acceleration, and I am told adding the janspeed and sports cat will have added another 7bhp ish. And the sun finally came out as I was picking the car up... :):D:blink:

Hi Kris,

Which Janspeed have you fitted is it the larger round pipe type or the Oval Lotus Sports type?

I know they are about to do an offer on the Lotus variant at NW's.

IMHO the round pipes suit the S2 much better and don't need the grilles changing.

Did you get the Janspeed through Nick Whales or supply it yourself?

I am just about to take the plunge so very interested in your views.

Went for the round one which is designed for the 111s. Had a janspeed sports cat at the same time since I can't be doing with messing about with CRPs and chopping things back and forwards in future. Admittedly I've only driven it for a couple of hours since fitting and the usual complaint is that it's too boomy but the 111s has better soundproofing so it sounded pretty good to me. At least now it sounds a bit more like a sports car. Stealth mode it isn't though... :D

I think at present that it's the only one available for the s2 111s as the others, as you say, have the oval tailpipes which are designed for the standard ones and you'll have to change the grilles. I got NW to supply and fit both - could have done it fractionally cheaper through racespeed I think, but not much, and would have then had the hassle of waiting around for delivery and transporting bits to and fro. Also, from what I gather, some dealers aren't that keen on fitting parts that are self supplied. Nick Whale charged £90 labour for fitting both parts and sorting the throttle cable, which seemed pretty good to me. Friend of mine has the lotus sport one on his S2 ST, and I think that's made by magnex - sounds good but I preferred the janspeed, and the tailpipes are the wrong shape anyway.

Am now thinking about an ITG induction kit although I think I need to let the credit card cool down a bit first...apparently that'll cost about £400 fitted. Also need to get braided brake hoses at some point but that'll be about the extent of my messing about I think.

According to SimonDann's profile he has the Janspeed as well so may be worth finding out what he thinks. Another guy I know has a janspeed on his S2 and isn't convinced as he reckons it's too noisy. That's a standard ST though so maybe different soundproofing.

Kristian

Simon - if you do read this - what difference did the induction kit make in performance terms?
