Help Installing Cartek Battery Isolator

Just installed it and running a test..........and not going according to plan :D .

So far I have a new live lead (that's two total inc original) to and from the battery and isolator.

The smaller second live wire that used to be on the live (battery) terminal now goes direct to power to fuel/ignition on the isolator.

I have a new neutral lead from the isolator to the battery and the old lead (from the battery) and smaller secondary wire now go to the earth post on the chassis.

Results: Engine off the Cartek works, engine on it doesn't it just makes the immobilisor light flicker...ENGINE STILL RUNS :P

Anyone help me with this one, tar?

Sounds to me like the engine is still running from the alternator. IIRC engines use the battery to start only then the alternator takes over to power everything else. This means by disconnecting the bttery while the cars running nowt will happen.

The smaller wire to the battery is usually the charge wire back from the alternator not a feed to the rest of the electrics, to kill the engine you will need to tap into one of the wires for the ECU or something to shut that down and therefore the fuel and sparks. Maybe the ignition wire from the key switch is the one to go for. I've never installed one TBH so don't quote me!

I'm guess that wire isn't the right one......just not sure where to take it from now?

According to my wiring drawings (s1 unfortunately) theres a white wire that goes from the ignition switch to the fuse box. Seems to go to a 5A fuse that is numbered 7. Don't know if the S2 would be much different?

Tar Phil was a long lunch but turned out to be the live (brown) to the back of the barrel which had to be split with both feeds back to and from the Cartek......sorted will post diagram and pics at some point. Can started putting the car back together again tonight :sniper:
