Insurance Hire Car...?

Recommended Posts

An old man run into the back of the elise about 2 hrs ago, luckily it was on a petrol station forecourt so caught on cctv etc + he admitted blame straight away, but the bad news is that the rear clam is scratched and cracked etc... so i'll claim off his insurance, but the thing is i don't want to be landed with something like a Micra as a hire car whilst mine is being fixed. This is the first time i've ever had to claim on insurance so i'm not 100% how it works, from your experience what am i likely to get as a hire car? Obviously Enterprise don't hire out Lotus's so is there anyway i can get a half-decent replacement or am i stuck with whatever i'm given :(

Thanks, Dave.

Also depends on your age. I had a ding a few years ago and becuase I was under 25 the best car i could have was a 1.1 corsa :(

:)

well i've spoke to my insurance and i've got a choice...

1.\ Give it to one of their "approved" repair centres and don't pay the excess

2.\ Pay the excess, take it to a Lotus specialist, and claim the excess back.

Excess is only £350 so not too bad especially as i'd get it back eventually and presumably i'd get a better hire car... or can a non-lotus garage be trusted to replace a rear clam?? (they're unlikely to mess around with fibreglass repairs are they?)

definetly get it done at a lotus specialist.

I'm sure a few people will be along in a few minutes to recommend a few places.

My insurence company paid for my new front clam to be replaced at Peter Smiths in Derby.
