Time to address my next little niggles…. One of my headlight lenses had shed some of its lacquer. Looks a little tatty and right on my girl’s nose.

I’ve done a little surfing on the interweb and it appears that I can bake the lens off the assembly and repair or replace. Thus I have a couple of Q’s hopefully you guys n Gals can enlighten me with.

1). This Baking process has any one tried this, how’s it done?
2). Is the lens repairable is it possible to strip back the lacquer and respray?
3) Are the lenses available to buy or do I have to shell out for a complete assembly?

Both mine have gone like this. Hope some has an inexpensive solution.

If its anything like Clio's, which is a common problem you just wetsand them with something really fine and polish them back up

Yes i have seen restoration kits but these are intended for hazed/scratched lenses minor imperfections.

My lens have actually shed lacquer or at least that is how it appears.

So far there is no cheap option so its a new headlamp assy for £300 used or £450 new.

I am far more resourceful than this and will continue to dig.

<sup>Further reading makes me think this lacquer is actually the UV protective screen used by the manufacturer which is sacrificial using a restoration kit as Addz suggest will remove the remainder and a replacement solution can be applied post restoration.
Has anyone attempted separating the lens from the assy on an S2…? or do i just use the force

Hmm probably some kind of sealant, usually you can use a hair dryer to heat it and cut it with a knife, never seen a Lotus headlight out though so couldn't be sure

Mine have gone like that too, It looks to me like it's on the outside of the lamp. So can you not just repair the surface with the headlamp still in place?

Showed to a professional detailer today, its more than any polish can rectify.
