Catalitic Converter

My car has JUST scraped through the MOT today, front numberplate isn't 90 degrees (It's velcro'd to the clam - no plinth), and the emissions are very borderline . .

 

 

I re-fitted the CAT yesterday, but loads of metal was falling out of it, kind of like metal filings?

 

Could I have damaged it? It's been all over the place in my boot, and more recently to quickfit to get the studs pressed out . .

 

It's coming back off at the weekend anyway - just wondered thats all

Sounds like it's buggered. Cannot repair but have seen second hand ones on Ebay for less than £100.

Mine fell to bits inside when it was still attached while I was hooning around on Snake Pass. It spat its contents into the silencer and buggered it right up. For the sake of 100 quid (or 200 for a new one) I'd just replace it. My failure ended up costing £800 parts n labour

CAT by-pass pipe needs to go back on tonight !!!

If you’re in no hurry to get one you should be able to find one pretty cheap on ebay, I paid £50 for mine a few months ago.
