simonr23 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Which wiper blade is the simplest replacement for my existing one, which got hit by a stone?
stockhome Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Do you have the hook fitment if you do these Aeroblades are supposed to be good
prs Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Valeo VM15 seem ok for the few times i've needed wipers
CHOPPA Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If you're changing the wiper blade, I would do the modification using the wiper blade with the fitted washer bar. Can't remember exactly now, but I've a feeling it's the same one used by an older Espace. There's several threads on here & Seloc. Well worth doing in my opinion, much less water used so the mini resevoir lasts longer on the winter drives & most importantly, you don't get a face full everytime you wash the windscreen. Whilst you're at it, do the relay upgrade at the same time so the wiper doesn't smear the clean screen & you can adjust the length of the intermittent wipe.
markh27 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I used the generic 24" blade from Tesco - just punched out the centre pin so it would attach to my early S2 arm and it works fine. Not bad for just over 3 quid.
andywolf Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Whilst you're at it, do the relay upgrade at the same time so the wiper doesn't smear the clean screen & you can adjust the length of the intermittent wipe. How do you do that?
CHOPPA Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 How do you do that? Here you go: http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Wiper_Variable_intermittent I tottled off to my local scrap yard in the depths of last winter with the good lady holding the tools and after rummaging round several golfs, passats etc found the relay I was looking for. Surprisingly, many of the cars had already been plundered. Anyway, 1 minute to fit and 2 minutes to get back out of the footwell and it works a treat. Now when you wash the windscreen the wiper bar puts the water directly onto the windscreen so no spillage and it only does a couple of wipes afters so no smearage Also you can vary the length between the intermittant wipes, which is great in varying precipitation levels - sounds technical huh? All good though and for £2 I'm more than happy HTH
CHOPPA Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 It frightens me too Matt! I had to have a long quiet lie down in a darkened room following such levels of activity
