ForcedInduction Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Hi All, I've fitted a 2bular 6" through diffuser exhaust to my 111R. It sounds fantastic, and above 5000 to 8500 RPM it really sounds like a racetrack refugee. The exhaust system is of fantastic quality, probably the best out there. I spent quite sometime looking for a suitable replacement and the TIG welded masterpiece is great. Jim of 2bular was great getting the system built and ready for me so quickly. Check out his site to see the quality of his systems at http://www.2bular.com/ Fitting took me about 2 hrs, there is a link on the site to some great instructions with picture for each step. ...pictures to follow once I can get them to upload From the back... More rear... and the side...
M111 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Why have you got those pipes welded onto the tow-bar?
Reg Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Not keen on being able to see the pipes inside the tail pipes............
EdLeake Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Not keen on being able to see the pipes inside the tail pipes............ Same here, looks like an ebay item.
ForcedInduction Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 ebay I wish, though you get dodgy MIG welds or rolled silencer bodies on just about every other system for the 111R. Have you seen how the Lotus stage 2 pipe ends are attached, not a great look, probably why they're hidded by the diffuser. I have to admit the grainy cam on my phone doesn't do it any favours, but the site shows the system in better detail.
kimbo Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 7" 2bular (through diffuser) being fitted to my ExigeS tomorrow. If I get chance (and not enjoying the 'music' too much) I will post pics. I've gone for 3" extended pipes - FI ~ cannot work out from your pics if these are extended pipes or not. If extended are you introducing anything by way of heat protection to rear grille/number plate? kimbo
ForcedInduction Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 Not had to add any extra insulation to the system. At idle the exhaust gases are forced out past the diffuser lip so no issue. Let me know how your 7" sounds, I'm really happy with mine.
kimbo Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 7" 2bular is awesome. Quiet when you want it to be but plant the right foot and the sound is fantastic. Not taken any pics yet or had the opportunity to thank Jim as been driving the car around with a smile on my face! Only slight downside is that the s/c induction wail above 4500rpm is drowned by the exhaust note. Little point in putting pics on as my pipes the same as yours. Only other item fitted today was rear park sensors (s/c no rear vision). Went for a new type MR2 which requires no rear drilling - sensors are actually a rear (black) number plate surround - took Whales ages to wire in but well worth it for appearance and use - guys there said first of this type they had fitted and were impressed - they work brilliantly. kimbo
