New Itg Induction Kit For Honda Conversions

I've had a thread running on SELOC for a while which has been looking at reducing the induction noise on Honda conversions. I went to talk to ITG filters and it resulted in them developing a new kit!

Got the prototype fitted yesterday.

Arrived at ITG got the car in bits and proceeded to test fit the new filter.

Looks like this:

From the top (4 inch opening)

From base (76mm opening):

Filter element compared to K&N - longer but smaller diameter.

6143726799_f088a07402_z.jpgITG rate this filter up to 400hp so for a 360 hp SC Honda plus losses due to the SC that;s just right.

There is a bracket and rubber strap for mounting:

And this mounts to the small bracket that is welded on the roll bar support. I've moved my fuel pressure reg and put it on a p-clip a bit further down but it should be able to accommodate it on the bracket fixing if you didn't want to move it.

Andy suggested fitting this to direct any possible noise down into the cavity. it's still a 4" pipe (good for up to 600hp) and can draw lots of air from the area it's pointed to. You could ultimately point to to the scoop but he's not sure that it will give any appreciable 'ram' effect.

Then we went out for a spin.

Noise: well I think it is quieter. The exhaust note is more noticeable and seems deeper and when you press the accelerator at low revs and high gear and put a high load on the engine there is less of a 'sucking' noise. really need to do some tests on drive-by the see what it's really like. Difficult to tell from inside the car.

Power - who knows! Doesn't feel ay slower or restricted but will hopefully get a run on a RR in the next week or so to see what's what.

Will post results when I get them.

RR session booked at Monster Motorsport in Loughborough on Wed at 10:30 am.

Will report back with the results when I have them.

Prices from ITG:

It's the XL version that's been developed for the SC cars. The STAB99 will be fine for the NA Hondas as it rated up to 300 hp.

The standard STAB99 with ARAB65/73R filter will be £65.00 + vat for the box and £72.00 + vat for the filter (£80.00 + vat for the TNB reinforced filter) – I still need to work out a price for the duct, bracket and strap.

The STAB99XL with +50mm ARAB65/73RTNB will be £80.00 + vat for the box and £85.00 + vat for the filter.

If people quote the part numbers above they can order the parts through any of our distributors, although most will not be aware of them yet.

When I’ve got some spare time I’ll put together a price for a full kit which will include airbox, filter, filter oil, duct and bracket assembly – hopefully the price will be a little lower than if the parts are bought separately.

So we're just missing the price for the bracket and strap really.

The results are in!

Cleaned and re-oiled the K&N last night and fitted back on the car.

Took it to a Dyno Dynamics RR today in Loughborough at Monster Motorsport.

First did 2 runs with the K&N then swapped over to the ITG and did another 2 runs. Intake temps were 32 and 29 respectively so the same really.

Results:

K&N - 313.1 HP @8700 and 211 ftlbs at 5400

ITG - 313.3 hp @ 8700 and 209 ft lbs at 5400

So no difference basically.

However, where the fuck has all the power gone from my car? If the car was putting out the power it was supposed to then it might have been a different result - but who knows.....
