Foley
I'm thinking of buying one of these 2nd hand for my lady. Anyone on here got any experience with them. May settle for any of the 3 series 6cyl coupes, but there doesn't seem to be too much difference in prices. Any advise/comment. Thx
Scott_Mac
The boss has one, and i have to say it looks stunning (his is a convertible) The 6 cyl sounds gorgeous and it seems to shift pretty damn well. Comfy too.. they drove back from Italy in a day in it!
malbon
Not bad cars. Heavy but comfy. lovely heated seats as an option. Save yourself some insurance/petrol/premium by going for the 325ci which isnt any slower.
Scott_Mac
Valid point... but come resale time the 330 holds out better too Surely the 40bhp must count for something too, the extra basic spec of the 330 is surely noteworthy too.
malbon
Why thankyou kind sir ! Valid point by you also. It depends on how old you want. If were talking 3 years 50% then go for an X plate 330Ci. I bet they're still around 16/17k though at the mo. My boss has one. X plate 69k miles..heated seats..phone....sports handling package which is nice etc.. shes trading for a merc 320...i told her....you'll be dissapointed they aren't far off m3 pace . Foley
"they aren't far off m3 pace" Thats why I want her to have one, long journeys are going to be so much better in that, compared to my Elise which she hates. Found a X reg with 40k for £14k, they seem to come pretty much fully loaded as standard. V tempted.
malbon
Lot of car for the money. We got loads of people who have them at work. No problems. Solid V6. never hear anything bad tho servicing put me off the M beemers i dont know if these will be the same.
Foley
haven't looked into running costs, the lovely lady doesn't do too many miles (although I think I might put a few on it). Any idea what the service intervals are? I expect main dealers to charge the earth.
Mark H
Dont know much about them myself, someone at work has one and is happpy enough. What I do know from all the reviews is that they always tell you to get the diesel version of the 330! Its the one Jenson Button got caught speeding in
Kris H
The diesel engine is very very good - know someone who has one. Genuinely quick and comparably cheap to run in fuel terms. Please note that the rules are that BMW drivers deserve the finger though Mike so if it's you on the way past, or worse, your lady, no offence (and learn to signal/get off my bumper/dip your headlights and all the other sins of the rep mobile). Foley
Kris, I guess it's the downside of a rep mobile, she'll have to learn to tailgate and be an arrogant w*nker (she can learn off me:)) She's so lovely and beautifully niave that she'd prolly think you're just waving at her anyway. I've heard a few horror stories with the 3.0d engine from fleet operators who say they've given them nothing but problems. I've driven my mates 530d auto and have to say it was bloody impressive, not fantastic off the lights but once it gets going it just keeps pulling. Prolly going to opt for petrol anyway. FD has a 525d and that picks up extremely well, so the 3 should improve even more... 14k for a 330 is a bargain, i have to say, engine is nigh on bulletproof - AFAIK servicing isn't too shocking. V6... Tut tut... though i know you meant straight six...
