Those of you who were at Aldon's the other week at the Dyno run will have seen us scurrying around wiring laptops to something in our footwells.

This is the ALDL socket for diagnostics. It's ecactly the same as in the picture above.

We have a software application called Elanscan which will record vast amounts of data from all sorts of sensors which feed the ECU.

A word on storage though (and I can only talk for the Elan ecu) but the only thing it stores is fault codes to assist with diagnostics. It's NOT a black box and you cannot interrogate it to see what the driver has been doing in the past, however, you can record real time (if that makes sense)...I got a mind blowing .ecu file from my 205bhp run last week.

I'm surprised nobody knows of/has developed an Elanscan equivalent for the Elise.

The developer of Elanscan is climbing in the Himalayas at present, but I'll ask him (if you want me to) how difficult it would be to adopt our software for your cars.
