Head Gaskets Fitted By Cd Bramalls Leicester

Ive been informed by the garage named above that my head gasket has gone. Absolutly no signs. Normal temp, no coolant loss etc. The reason i took it to them was because the car wouldnt pass the emmisions on mot.

 

Anyway They are fitting a new gasket. Does anyone know if lotus dealers use uprated head gaskets as i forgot to ask the question??

I don't think they do... they will use the OEM one which is standard.

The current standard Rover part is uprated from the original + metal dowels as part of the gasket kit. There are "uprated" ones around e.g. Mike Satur but except on highly modified engines, nobody's been able to claim an obvious improvement over the new Rover part.

 

When replacing the head gasket, make sure they also change the cambelt - saves doing it later. More reputable places also replace the long bolts at the same time.
