Team Lotus is operated by 1Malaysia Racing Team Sdn Bhd, a privatelyfunded project owned by Tune Group.

Tune Group is jointly owned by Team Principal Dato’ Sri Tony Fernandes and Director Dato’ Kamarudin Meranun and the third Director of Team Lotus is SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, the CEO of Naza Group.

As Lotus Racing, the team’s entry into Formula 1™ was confirmed by the FIA on 15 September 2009 and was announced to the world by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.

From 2011 the company race under the Team Lotus name, reviving one of sport’s most iconic brands.
