to check a car out for me.

Seen another Elise for sale but it's in Halesowen.Does anyone live in or near this place who could cast a quick glance over this car for me just to let me know if it's worth the trip down.

If anyone can spare the time to help it would be greatly appreciated (you name your drink  )

Thanks in advance, Nick.

I will pm the address to anyone who can help.

Loads of us round here.

Post up some more details and i or Beefcake could have a look i'm sure.

Or if we're being honest, far and away you're best bet would be to ask Mike at Horizon if they can take it in and have a proper look round - probably cost about £35 and then i guarantee you'd know for sure!

Is it private or at a garage?

Garage.Unfortunately it's not a specialist and they can't tell me much about the car other than it's just had it's "C" service done,so all in all very vague.Just want someone to have a quick look round the outside basically,i can always nip it down the road to horizon for a thorough check.

Post some details then and i'll see if i can have a quick nose around for you.

Hi Scott and thanks for the offer.

The car is at All Electric Halesowen. It's a Skoda/Seat dealer.

Seems to be priced quite expensive but you never know what a bit of haggaling(sp) can do. ;)

Whats the Reg, I only know of 2 Yellow elises based in Halesowen so might know who owned it before the garage.

All electric are also a Rover dealer!!! So maybe some one downgraded to an MGTF!! ;)

Right, sorry for delay, been and seen it but had afew things to this afternoon.

In no particular order:

There is a small scuff on the rear left where its rubbed a curb - nothing too serious

Has Lotus brake pads, look like have plenty spare meat on them. (not too keen on the body coloured calipers mind)

Std S1 suspension rears look fairly new, fronts possibly still original

Has wiring in palce for a subwoofer and amp

Has brand new splash spats on the rear wheel arches and also black plastic covers for the intakes (see pic)

P0 tyres all round, fronts probably origianl, rears also look quite new

Smoked indicators - GJOB ;)

Eliseparts exhaust, but standard elsewhere, includes Cat.

Has driving light protectors

Headlamps starting to show a little corrosion inside, not serious enough to fail MOT

It already has an MLOC sticker, which could be a saving grace!!! Reg T654 KHH if anyone knows it, just changed back to that from a privvy one, apparantly is/was the original sale plate.

There is wear on the drivers sill protector and seat from getting in (see photos)

There are some stone chips, a couple have been badly filled. There are also a couple of gel cracks one to the left of the passenger side headlamp and one to the left of the number palte as you look straight on. Couple of other scuffs at the front leads me to believe it may have run into something at some stage - certainly not a big bang, probably a little parking ding. (See one pic of the one near no. plate)

K&N Air Filter

Braided Clutch Hose.

And now the bad bits....

The boot release cable is broken so i couldn't open the boot to check it out, they have ordered the part and it will be sorted.

There is a knocking noise from the rear (the guy told me) they've been told the bits to them are £225 per side to fix - so i can only assume its suspension based and probably toe links - at a guess. Might be worth giving them a call. Worth a haggle and sort it at Horizon or something.

Its listed as an imported car. Apparantly it got shipped to Germany before being purchased and then bought into the country.

In summary, for £13k screen price, i think they'll move a bit on price, but for the condition/mileage/spec etc it seems pretty good. If you do want it though, i'd ask Horizon to give it a proper check over just for your own piece of mind, though the guy there did sound honest.

£13K's a lot to pay for a car with those defects unless it's very low mileage (neither of you said). From a dealer, £12,500 with a warranty or £12K private/without warranty - tops. Maybe less: those with yellow cars adore them, but they are often harder to shift.

In fact definitely less. What's the story on the export & re-import? Golden opportunity to shed some history - you should hope to have copies of every receipt.
