daves2111s Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Was out in my 4k mile S2 111s at the weekend and started to develop a nasty rattle which sounded like something loose in the undertray area. Got back only to discover that yet again the alloy window winder on the nearside door was loose. Quite unbelievable the amount of noise this made even though the roof was off! Having also had the boot catch spring mechanism lower itselft totally on to the undertray recently I have now started using what surely Lotus should have done all along THREADLOCK!!! Total cure! Used it on my R/C race cars for years. Go get some today (not the very hard stud lock). Dave
Kris H Posted October 1, 2003 Posted October 1, 2003 Touch wood, but I've not had this. Am having a git of a time with the driver's side mat though - considering nailing the barsteward down at this rate. Oh, and in case any of you s1 lot think of giving it loads, I'd rather have carpet mats than corrosion...
daves2111s Posted October 1, 2003 Author Posted October 1, 2003 Hi Kris, So far no problems with my mats. However it must be great to look under them and not see any nasty little holes in the floor:blink: Oops sorry you S1 drivers! Dave
Black Swan Posted October 2, 2003 Posted October 2, 2003 S1 reply - guess you wouldn't notice the extra weight of locktite so write to Hethel. Regarding corrosion, at least we know where to look for ours ... is it safe to go out at all in an S2 until you know where it will have those extra holes, though it sounds like you will get plenty of warning as the noise levels rise above whisper quiet through all that sound proofing! Only joking guys, I know the S1 is a real Lotus even if it is built on the same line as the VXT
Black Swan Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 Bloody tpyos ... should have said: Only joking guys, I know the S2 is a real Lotus even if it is built on the same line as the VXT Do I feel a fool now. Peter
Kris H Posted October 3, 2003 Posted October 3, 2003 Peter Saw that yesterday but thought I'd sit there smugly and not say anything. Made me laugh though. There is justice in the world. Kristian
Black Swan Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Thank God I do not have a web cam, or you would be able to see me looking very humble... Then again the sun is out and I am about to be so the smila is back for all to see. Peter
Kris H Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Yes, it's getting to be coat time when out in the lis I think - made the mistake of not having one the other day and ended up with serious granny fingers by the time I got out!
Black Swan Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Leaving to visit my son on Yorkhire in an hour and ondering how many layers to put on. Think we should have a what to wear thread ...
