Tuscan
I am searching for the name of a small garage/cartrader that sold Lotus cars on Broad Street,Birmingham in the Seventies. I know it was a very small garage and sold mainly used sports cars (Lotus/TVR) so not many people probably will recall it. Who remembers this garage or can help me to find it (old newspaper, motor mag.)? Thanks. Eric

Mark H
I know of a location near Broad street (but not on Broad Street, just a few streets away) that used to have a Lotus dealer on it, although I doubt this was there in the seventies. Like Scott I also didnt see much of the seventies! Why do you need their name for?
Tuscan
You probably mean Ryland Cars, but they started with Lotus in the Eighties and were a few miles from Broad Street. Like to know the name of this garage as I am doing some car history research.
ipanter
Have you tried Lotus direct, they must have a list of their old dealers somewhere. I'll ask my Dad though he grew up in Brum.
Mark H
Only other place I can think of is Birmingham council, they must have records of that.
Mark H
Or Paul Matty are likely to know having been in the business for years.
Simon V
PM started as an apprentice mechanic in a Lotus dealers in Birmingham, the name will come to me...?
Tuscan
I tried Lotus direct, but they didn´t have any information. This Broad Street garage/trader was not an big "official Lotus dealer" but probably a "one man" garage. It sold used sports cars like Lotus/TVR and I can imagine with only a few cars in stock at that time. .
ipanter
Do you know the address, you never know it may still be there, or at least maybe another garage who may remember the old owner.
