Andy3drc Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Hi guys, basic mistake i know, but when I got my S2 the other week I forgot to ask about the locking key, I now need to remove a wheel and have no idea where its meant to be stored? Worst case is that its missing. If this happens are the nuts on the car standard? They look like TorqueX nuts just bigger. Anyone help? Thanks Andy
kimbo Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Should be in a pouch in the boot of the car. You are right about the shape of the thing - when car is being serviced they are often taken out by mechanic (from experience) and not put back.
Andy3drc Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks From quickly looking in the manual it would seem they are not locking nuts but the standard lotus wheel bolts with a 10 spline torx head. I can take it this is the same size on all Elise's and that I can get a new socket at the dealer? They look like this - all bolts are the same. Thanks
kimbo Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Yes the wheel nut remover is 'standard' however I thought all S2's had one locking wheel nut per wheel which from your pic does not appear to be the case. My Exige certainly has 3 nuts (as shown in your pic) and one locking wheel nut with both 'removers' being in the black pouch in the boot. Check everywhere in the boot for the socket they can be under the carpet (if you have any) or stuck up the corner of the wheel arch.
Jo23 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hey. Welcome to MLOC!! Have you not got previous owners contact details to ask them where it is? Jo
Andy3drc Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Yeah spoke to him and was told its in the boot. I've had a good look today, had all the carpet out but theres nothing there. Found a pouch but it only contained the allen keys, no nut key. So does anyone have a spare standard key - the 10 spline one? Or know where I can get one? Thanks Andy

Thanks Andy I snapped mine in half the other week so bought a new one from the standard local parts place. Alternatively presumably a dealer will sell you one for 3x the price.
Neil Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Is it the locking wheel nut key you are after or the std nut tool. If it's the one for the std wheel nuts I happen to have a spare one from my old car. If you want it, it's yours for a small donation to MLOC (a few quid). PM me your address if you want it. I can take a picture of it if you're not sure HTH
