macca77 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Strangest thing. Set of for work, slightly earlier than normal today. Driving along, a few cars ahead spotted a black VX220 with plenty of decals. Increased speed say a friendly hello and noticed it was badged up as a Ferrari. Why oh why would somebody do that?
rm0rgan Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Why oh why would somebody do that? It's a Vauxhall and started life as a pretend Elise - enuff said!

Reg Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I know the owner of the VX she is a WPC and a little bit strange! There is a Vauxhall Omega with full Lotus Carlton running gear, Keif knows him. Although when I saw it last it was silver with rust, very Q car!
AnthT Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 yeah, there are lotus carltons, but not lotus omega's (its also an elite :?)
Reg Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 yeah, there are lotus carltons, but not lotus omega's (its also an elite :?) A bloke that MLOC member Keif knows put complete Lotus Carlton running gear in a Vauxhall Omega body. So that pictured car could well have a twin turbo lump under its bonnet! P.S. Lotus Carlton's were badged as Omega's for the european market.
Keif Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 As Reg has said, i know of a Vauxhall Omega B with Lotus Carlton running gear. However, it's still badged as a Vauxhall Omega 2.0 16v I did ths (albeit very temporary) to my Astra to wind the lads on Astra Sport up.....it worked. Thread HERE
Ladders Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Keif, how did he do that? Transfer the stuff from a trashed Lotus Carlton?
Keif Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I don't think he did it. I'm sure he bought it done, however he did help with the conversion. Written off Lotus Carlton, Omega with a dead 2.0L engine. Old one out, C36GET in. There's less room under there than on a Carlton so the transplant wasn't easy...... And the clutch pedal......damn it's stiff!
Keif Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I think it's lighter, so slightly quicker. However, it's not very easy to drive. Due to the clutch etc.

When she 1st got them done, she got such a slating on the VX owners club, she removed her pics!! I agree, who oh, why....
