daves2111s Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 It was a great day on Sunday. New course record 23 seconds (0-60 1.3secs) Two seater motortrike front two wheels driven!!! Sprint motor bikes. Sprint six wheeled go carts.......strange but very quick. Even a S1 Elise had a go (not quite in the same league as the big boys ) Some amazing machinery including the new DB9, Ferraris etc. The car park was well full of Loti. Paul Matty did a great job..... well done The aerobatics display by the Spitfire was awsome So who went didn't see many of you..... but may be just missed you in the crowds. If you didn't go you missed a great day (rather better than the Grand Prix I think) Dave
Zircon450 Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Rocked the venue Saturday for practice - £6 entry - excellent. Managed to make myself a (complete) @rse in the Lotus Parking area - due to sh1t clutch pipe (red syndrome) - Bruce please sort this out when you have time. Bob n Kim aka Tango190 Matty did a goo ting.
Elaine Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 We didn't go, but my hubby's parents went in their Excel.
Scott_Mac Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Didn't make it... was planning on visiting on the saturday but never got round to it really.. Red Clutch Pipe - ahhh, a problem of the past. Braided hose, great buy
ANDY T Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Had a great day classic team lotus group were cool. The Audi Quattros were rapid and sounded unreal. Dave took some good photos, need to see them on the gallery (hurry up).
Sausage Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Managed to get the push chair in the car for sunday , very impressed by the number of Loti, didn't know they'd made that many elans. Best flying of a Spitfire I've ever seen Little one was well impressed by the cars off the startline , but not so impressed further up the hill (he's only 18 months old and doesn't like having to wait 30 seconds to see the next car), had to leave a bit early for tea, but great day. Had to put the roof up on the way back for a quick sail down the M42
juicetin Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I agree, a really good day, saw your car Dave but didnt see you. It was probably the busiest ive ever seen it there. Alan Goodwin's Elise has got 180bhp and is as quick as a lot of the Caterhams. I was actually quite disappointed with the Quattros performance, the silver one has 700bhp but was around 2 secs slower than normal. To put the power to weight ratio into perspective, the little Imp powered Ginetta has around 150bhp and produced the same time as the 550bhp quattro. Also, the 400bhp roadgoing Evo5 was only 1 second slower than the 700bhp quattro racer and the same time as the 700bhp 6R4! So it also shows how important driver ability is. And it only rained once, briefly !
ANDY T Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Yes, i've seen the audi's run the climb alot quicker, on the second run the red pair had terrible starts.
