No no no yes!

Solobutt, If you look in this months Evo at the motorsport VX (or whatever it is?) they've painted the V black and it looks a lot better!

Always thought the V looked like it was tacked on to the car afterwards. Just a shame there are not a few more curves on it- more like an S2

Just wish someone would make a kit to put S1 clams on it. Yes I know the rear is longer, but the're so cheap + good engine just a pity their ugly. Looked in Autotrader and you can get brand new ones for around 18K.

Thought I'd be friendly the other day and waved to one. Got totally ignored.

I'd have got one if it was cheaper or in my price range at the time..

The choices weighed up to..(at the time)...

a, Buy a vx for 20k based on the fact lotus made the thing or,

b, Buy a '98 Lotus for 13k.

I'm glad I went the way I did because I still would have wanted a Lotus!

Also I have never been able to spell vauxhall....shit, I think I just did!

Cheers,

Adam. :)

oh, and no way is it a Lotus. If it was it would have Lotus written on it. Simple.

and....er..........Oh yeah,

I make headlamps for jags, vauxhalls, rovers and honda's in the same manufacuring facility, with the same materials, often at the same time.

That doesent mean vauxhalls have headlamps made by jag.....If you get what I mean. :)

Definatly not.

Car is just the outcome of an engineering/manufacturing contract Lotus recieved from GM.

It has no Lotus branding or badging anywhere, therefore, not a Lotus.

It's a bit like saying the Volvo C70 is a TWR not a Volvo.

Yes, in the same way that a Carlton, Sunbeam and Cortina were all transformed by Lotus. But then so were the Isuzu Piazza and Proton GTi and they didn't get the name.

No, in that it's the wrong way round: no badge = no aura = no magic.

It's a Lotus for logical, rational people because they see it as a bargain. Bit like buying own brand goods at a supermarket. But the paradox is, who buys a car as extreme as the "Elise family" and yet makes the rational choice?

On balance, YES, because it is clearly, unmistakeably from the Elise family (S1, S2, Exige & 340R look pretty different but they're still a family). It's just the poor relation.

And another thing...

Years ago I bought a knackered Jensen Healey because I wanted a Lotus. Couldn't afford an Elan Sprint DHC and thought the Lotus-engined JH was the next best thing.

Years later, love unrequited, the dream came true and I got a real Lotus. Can I change my vote now?

I considered it, but similar to oodam went for an older (cheaper) S1,

really I did want the 'lotus' badge as well, as its been my dream car for 26 years, now reality!

However it surely is a lotus with a vauxhall badge and cheaper because of it.......

(don't look at me like that !)
