Stevie
Hi all, On a 1st Lotus day I noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine (18k miles S2 135). It was there for 5 mins, then it would go away. Then it would come back again for a while. The oil level was a bit low so we thought that may be related so after the day I put a bit more in and never noticed it again (but also never abused it in the same way again either!) Anyway the ticking returned today, fortunately just as Mike from Horizon turned up to take the car away for it's service & geo (what an excellent service they provide by the way - they are also going to drop it off tomorrow night for me! Brilliant. ) He said it could be 'the cam followers'. What are these? What's the cause? What's the cure? I understand superficially what 'cams' are and I assume it's related to opening the valves. How are they different to the 'tappets' in my Fiesta engine (which I understand fully)? Stevie (Good run around the peaks today by the way. Much fun. Apart from the hail on the ears at times...)
