  1. GP2 driver Simon Trummer faces the biggest challenge of his career so far as he prepares to switch from the official F1 feeder series to the very pinnacle of endurance racing. The 25-year-old Swiss national will contest his first endurance race in the CLM P1/01 sports car at the penultimate round of the FIA WEC, the 6 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday, November 15. Simon Trummer, Official Driver: "After many years in single seater-racing I have decided to look for a new challenge and I see this step as a great opportunity to help the team with developing their prototype car. I also have to admit that endurance racing has always fascinated me. It’s too early to talk about goals for Bahrain but at least I have the advantage that I know the track pretty well, I finished second in this year’s GP2 sprint race there. Endurance racing is clearly new to me and I will follow the new procedures carefully and try to familiarise myself quickly with my new team.” Boris Bermes, Head of Operations: "We have followed Simon’s career over the past few years and consider him to be a driver with the necessary talent for a successful career in endurance racing. As a private LMP1 team we can definitely offer him a springboard in our sport and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in Bahrain. I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of our entire team who have clearly demonstrated their skill and commitment in repairing the fire damage from Fuji and rebuilding the CLM/P1 in record time. Not only this but they also managed a podium finish in Shanghai. We have finished two of the last three 6-Hour-Races and in addition to reliability we are now turning our focus to performance, I still see a lot of potential in terms of drivability and tire wear.”
  2. The all-new Lotus P1/01 took centre stage at the iconic 24 hours of Le Mans event today as the LMP1 L class car was unveiled to the media and public for the very first time. The Le Mans Innovation Centre played host to the much anticipated unveiling where Lotus LMP drivers Christijan Albers, Christophe Bouchut and Pierre Kaffer were on hand to do the honours and pull the cover from the stunning Paul White designed car. Delays resulting from an unavoidable change in engine supplier prevent the team from compet-ing at the world famous race this weekend, much to the disappointment of the team and the drivers. Despite this, the unveiling was an enormously proud moment for the team, the iconic LMP 1 class represents the highest class of sports car racing, attracting some of the best drivers in the world and is usually dominated by world famous manufacturers. Commenting at the launch, Lotus LMP Head of Operations, Boris Bermes said: “It’s really heart-warming to see so many supporters and fans of the team here in Le Mans. It’s difficult to be here and not compete, we have a team of very talented, very competitive individuals and all they want to do is race. They really did everything they could to try and meet the homologation deadline but now we focus all our efforts on testing ahead of Austin in September. I’m looking forward to showing our fans and our competitors what the car can do in the not too distant fu-ture.” The Lotus LMP drivers in attendance made it clear that they are really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the P1/01, former Formula 1 driver Christijan Albers said: “The P1/01 has awesome potential and I can’t wait to see what the it can do. For sure, it’s strange to be here and not race but the team is definitely remaining positive about the rest of the season, anything can happen in this sport.” To follow the Lotus LMP Team go to the newly launched website: www.lotus-lmp.com.
  3. REBELLION Racing is pleased to announce their driver line-ups for the 12 Hours of Sebring and the first three rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the Le Mans 24 Hours. The "3N" trio that prevented Audi's clean-sweep in last year’s Le Mans 24 Hours by claiming a fourth place finish, will be reunited in the #12 Lola-Toyota. Nick Heidfeld (Germany), Neel Jani (Switzerland) and Nicolas Prost (France) will share driving duties at the 12 Hours of Sebring. In the Team’s sister car, the #13 Lola-Toyota, Andrea Belicchi (Italy) will be joined by ELMS LMP2 Champion Mathias Beche (Switzerland) and CongFu Cheng (China), his teammate during last year's FIA WEC 6 Hours of Shanghai win. The same REBELLION Racing driver squads will also contest the 6 Hours of Silverstone (UK), 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Le Mans 24 Hours in the FIA World Endurance Championship. REBELLION Racing is also pleased to announce that Nick Heidfeld and Neel Jani will lead the team's effort in the American Le Mans Series. After Sebring, they will both experience street racing with the Lola-Toyota LMP1 at Long Beach and enjoy the experience of The Corkscrew at Laguna Seca only a week after racing respectively at Silverstone and Spa ! ______________________ March-June race by race driver line-ups : ALMS - 12 Hours of Sebring March 16 Lola-Toyota #12 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani - Nicolas Prost Lola-Toyota #13 : Andrea Belicchi - Mathias Beche - CongFu Cheng FIA WEC - 6 Hours of Silverstone April 14 Lola-Toyota #12 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani - Nicolas Prost Lola-Toyota #13 : Andrea Belicchi - Mathias Beche - CongFu Cheng ALMS - GP of Long Beach April 20 Lola-Toyota #13 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani FIA WEC - 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps May 4 Lola-Toyota #12 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani - Nicolas Prost Lola-Toyota #13 : Andrea Belicchi - Mathias Beche - CongFu Cheng ALMS - Monterey May 11 Lola-Toyota #13 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani FIA WEC - Le Mans 24 Hours June 22/23 Lola-Toyota #12 : Nick Heidfeld - Neel Jani - Nicolas Prost Lola-Toyota #13 : Andrea Belicchi - Mathias Beche - CongFu Cheng
  4. - 6th win of the season in FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy (Spa, Le Mans, Silverstone, Sao Paulo, Fuji and Shanghai) - 4th place overall at the 6 Hours of Shanghai - Winner of the 2012 FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams In the last race of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship, REBELLION Racing secured first place in FIA WEC Endurance LMP1 Trophy at the 6 Hours of Shanghai. Andrea Belicchi, Harold Primat and Cong Fu Cheng, drove their #13 B12/60 Lola-Toyota to 4th place overall. Starting from seventh place on the grid, the #13 Lola-Toyota was able to overtake both HPD-Hondas with strong driving and smart strategy. At mid-race Belicchi, Primat and Cheng were in a strong 6th place overall (and third in the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy). They kept pushing and in the last hour of the race, Andrea Belicchi had a head-to-head battle with David Brabham aboard the JRM car #22. On lap 169, with less than thirty minutes remaining in the race, Andrea Belicchi, after numerous attempts, managed to pass the JRM driver to take fifth place overall (and second place in the in the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy behind the REBELLION Racing team’s sister car, #12). Cung Fu Cheng was a successful addition to the regular driver pairing in the Lola-Toyota #13, he quickly adapted himself to the car and drove two very strong stints during the race, being both quick and safe. Starting the race from 5th place on the grid, the sister Lola-Toyota #12 had a nearly perfect race, but Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost were robbed of the victory just 8 minutes before the end of the race. The Swiss/French pairing were dominant from the start of the race, leading the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy from the third lap (fourth overall), building a one lap lead over the sister car #13. But unluckily, the car was forced to retire only a few laps from the end with a transmission failure that deprived the two drivers from a deserved win, instead handing the win to Andrea Belicchi, Harrold Primat and Cong Fu Cheng. It was the first time one of REBELLION Racing’s Lola B12/60 Toyotas has had to retire all season. Andrea Belicchi – Lola-Toyota #13 : «I feel mixed emotions. I'm happy for me, for my teammates Harold and Cong Fu and for all the team who have done a great job through the whole season. I'm sad too for the team of the #12 Lola-Toyota and for my friends Neel and Nico. Harold, Cong Fu and I had a very strong race. I won my duel with David Brabham. I had a risky decision to take because there were not a lot of places that I could overtake, but it worked. I would especially like to thank and congratulate Cong Fu. He has been really great during the week-end. He has quickly become part of the team and adapted very well to the car. He drove really strong stints during the race. » Harold Primat – Lola-Toyota #13 : « I'm satisfied by our season. All the team has worked hard for the last years to achieve good results and it has paid off especially this season. Of course, we share the disappointment of our teammates in the #12 car, Nico and Neel. They would have deserved the win and to have claimed third place in the FIA WEC drivers classification, but things like that happen sometimes. Anyway, we will celebrate together our victory of today and the success of the season !”» Cung Fu Cheng – Lola-Toyota #13 : « The challenge of driving the REBELLION Racing Lola-Toyota LMP1 was not so easy. I hadn't driven much before the race and I had not a lot of time to learn and understand the car, but we did it! I'm sorry for Neel and Nico, but happy to have contributed to the success of the team. I really appreciate being able to come and race at REBELLION Racing, there is a great spirit in this team.» Nicolas Prost – Lola-Toyota #12 : « It was like another perfect race for us until 8 minutes before the end. We made the gap during the race and won the duel against the JRM #22 car. But the gearbox broke just a few laps before the end of the race, preventing the car from being able to move and forcing us to retire. As a consequence, we lost 3rd place in the FIA World Endurance Championship driver classification. We had bad luck in beginning of the season and we are finishing with bad luck. It's a bit sad to finish on this note, but we can be very proud of our results this season. » Neel Jani – Lola-Toyota #12 : « It's a kind of story that only sport can tell. We were P4 overall and P1 in the LMP1 privateer field. We had just over seven minutes before the end of the race and the car broke. The main consequence of all of this is that we lost the third place in the FIA World Endurance Championship drivers classification. And that's what is the harder thing to take for me. However, we proved once again that we were the fastest LMP1 privateer car this season. And the very good memory of our victory at Petit Le Mans last week is still in our heads. Yes, I am are satisifed by my 2012 season.» Bart Hayden REBELLION Racing Team Manager : «This win in Shanghai rounds off what has been a very successful season, 6 wins in the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy (Spa-Francorchamps, Le Mans, Silverstone, Sao Paulo, Fuji and Shanghai) including 6 pole positions and not forgetting the overall win at Petit Le Mans, at the finale of the American Le Mans Series. I feel sorry for Nico (Prost) and Neel (Jani) as they were unable to claim third place in the FIA WEC World Drivers championship. They have been dominant all season and today they were within sight of the just reward that they deserved. For car #13, they drove really well to get the car up ahead the HPDs and they were there to pick up the win when #12 had to retire. Cong Fu contributed massively to that result, he integrated really well with the team and supported Andrea and Harold, so I’m happy for those guys that they took the win. We are now heading home and will have, during the next coming weeks, time to try to realise what we have achieved, and some time to spend with our families ... and prepare for next season ! The team has grown and strengthened again this year. We will enjoy the moment and then start looking ahead to the next season.»
  5. The REBELLION RACING team has returned to Asia for the eighth and last race of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. The 6 Hours of Shanghai will take place at the International Circuit of Shanghai on Sunday 28th October. Located in the suburbs of Shanghai, the International Circuit of Shanghai is a 5.451 km track built in 2004. Comprising long straights and short turns, the track hosts the F1 Grand Prix of China, it has been a regular fixture on the Formula 1 calendar since its inauguration. The 6 Hours of Shanghai will be the second race for REBELLION Racing in China, the team finished in 4th place overall at the 6 Hours of Zhuhai in 2011. CongFu Cheng, the Chinese rising star driver, will share the driving of the #13 Lola-Toyota with Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat for the Shanghai round. CongFu Cheng is the first Chinese driver who has raced and finished on the podium at Le Mans 24 Hours (in the LMP2 class in 2008). His background includes A1 Grand Prix from 2006 to 2009, Formula 3 (British and Euroseries) between 2007 and 2008 and the DTM championship for Mercedes in 2010. Last year, he competed in the Chinese round of the ILMC in Zhuhai with Mika Hakkinen sharing the drive of a Mercedes SLS. The driver lineup of the #12 Lola Toyota will remain unchanged with Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost at the wheel. Although REBELLION Racing have already achieved their main targets of the season with the win in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 teams and the overall win at Petit Le Mans in the past two weeks, the Swiss team is determined to end a great season on the highest note. CongFu Cheng - Lola-Toyota #13 : «I am really looking forward to my home race with REBELLION Racing. I really appreciate the chance that REBELLION Racing is giving me. I will do my best and will work together with my teammates Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat and the team to achieve the best possible result. I have got some friends in Rebellion Racing already, especially I am good friends with Neel Jani and know Nico Prost from my time in A1 GP. I was the first Chinese driver that raced and finished on the podium at Le Mans 24 Hours (in LMP2 class in 2008). Obviously jumping into an LMP1 car and racing together with some of the great drivers will be challenging, but I am confident with myself of being able to perform well in Shanghai. It's absolutely my honour to race for REBELLION Racing. And surely, we will get very good media interest and coverage given the quality of the team and me as a Chinese driver in my home country race ». Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager : « We will be competing at the 6 Hours of Shanghai with no pressure as we have achieved all our targets for this season. But our determination will remain high to achieve a strong result here in Shanghai to close off our fantastic season. Our cars and crew are as well prepared as ever. So, targeting a podium finish in Shanghai is not a unreachable objective.»
  6. - Winner of the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams - 4th and 7th places overall at the 2012 6 Hours of Fuji - 1st and 4th places in LMP1 Privateer entrants - Nicolas Prost and Neel Jani move to 3rd in the FIA WEC Drivers World Championship - 5th win of the season (Spa, Le Mans, Silverstone, Sao Paulo and Fuji) REBELLION Racing achieved another milestone at Fuji Speedway by winning the first FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams in history. In the inaugural season of the FIA World Endurance Championship, REBELLION Racing has confirmed its place as the best LMP1 private team in World endurance racing. 2012 has seen the team achieve all of its objectives : first privateer at Le Mans 24 Hours and first privateer in the FIA WEC. REBELLION Racing is really honored to offer such a great result to our main partners : Rebellion Timepieces, LEMO Connectors, Lotus cars, Harwood, Tornos and Swiss Interim. All through the season, Neel Jani, Nicolas Prost, Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat have collected important wins and precious points through quick and reliable driving in a remarkable team spirit. The engineers have had a key role of the improving the cars' performance throughout the season in front of strong competition with the HPD-Hondas getting quicker and quicker race after race. All the mechanics have worked hard and at the higest level all season long, evidenced by the fact that both cars have finished all the races so far. Toyota Motorsport GmbH and Toyota Racing engineers in Japan have supported the team and have been an invaluable partner for the second year in a row. Winning the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams here in Japan is a fitting reward for their efforts and contribution. The Toyota RV8KLM engines have always been powerful, strong and reliable. In achieving this Championship win, the REBELLION Racing Team extends its thanks to our tyre supplier, Michelin, who have always provided the team with a first class service. The cars have benefited from the quality of the Michelin tyres which have been quick, consistant and durable at each race around the World. REBELLION Racing's cars led the Privateer race in the 6 Hours of Fuji from the start to the chequered flag, in the early stages of the race with the #13 Lola-Toyota and not long afterwards with the #12 sister car. Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost won their fourth race of the season after clinching their fourth pole yesterday. Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat were forced to change strategy after first pitstop and were delayed. Nicolas Prost – Lola-Toyota #12 : «The team has reached its goal today ! We did a perfect season this year : we secured the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams, winning five races in seven. We've had a super race today. All week during the free practice sessions, we ran the car with high fuel and old tyres, so our laptimes weren't spectacular, but we found a good setup and, in doing so, a good car for the race. The team is definitely not the same team that I joined in 2009; it has advanced and we are now a team that is able to consistently race for the top place of privateer LMP1 field”. Neel Jani – Lola-Toyota #12 : «By finishing in fourth place overall, we achieved the maximum result we could expect in today's race. We have had the week-end we wanted ! We secured the Teams' title, that was our main goal for this season, and are now third in the FIA WEC Drivers World Championship. The fight for the drivers' Championship podium is in our own hands.” Andrea Belicchi – Lola-Toyota #13 : « With car #13, we didn't get the race result that we were expecting this weekend, we were in contention, but didn't reach the podium. But, the team has done a good job all season and we are all rewarded by this Championship win. I'm very happy for the team. » Harold Primat – Lola-Toyota #13 : “I'm really delighted by the success of the team. With Andrea and all the #13 crew, we played our part in the win of the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy bringing a win and precious points to the teams classification and helping to improve the cars along the way. I'm happy to have contributed to this. I do appreciate the team I joined this season. It's a small sized team compared to Aston Martin. There's a family spirit and I'm amazed by all the energy and passion that every member of the team brings to win. This is a really open-minded team where every one can bring his own experience/ideas to improve the cars. This team works very hard in a very good atmosphere. That's surely why such a sized team can race for the best places of the World endurance privateer field, just behind the works hybrid cars...” Bart Hayden REBELLION Racing Team Manager : « The FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams has been our target this season and we've won it with still one race to go! It's an amazing result, but fully deserved by each and every member of the Team who have all strived so hard for this success. The drivers drove sensibly as well as quickly today, managing to keep out of trouble, whilst still lighting up the timing screens. The engineers and mechanics have tuned and prepared the cars to the highest level all year and our finishing record and results this season show that. I'd like to thank Michelin for the great tyres, Toyota Motorsport GmbH and their colleagues from Toyota Motorsport Division who have been here supporting us this weekend and our major partners at Rebellion Timepieces and LEMO Connectors; it's a Team championship that we have won, and we have all won it together. We're also looking forward to the final WEC round in Shanghai, we'll go there with no pressure, and perhaps we'll even find time for a small celebration there too! »
  7. REBELLION Racing will race next week-end at the Fuji Speedway in Japan for the 6 Hours of Fuji with the aim of securing the win in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams. Achieving this “world” title in Japan, homeland of Toyota, would mean a lot for REBELLION Racing. The 2011 season was successful with the Toyota RV8KLM engine, the team won the Le Mans Series Teams and Manufacturers championships and ended last year's “world championship” (Intercontinental Le Mans Cup) third in the teams' classification and best independent team behind Peugeot and Audi. Close to the location where the team's engines are built, Fuji Speedway would be the best place to share another championship win with the people from Toyota Motorsport Division and Toyota Motorsport GmbH. After a double podium at the 6 Hours of Bahrain, REBELLION Racing has a 37 point lead over Strakka Racing and is determinated to win the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 teams in Japan. With a maximum of 50 points available in the remaining two rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Japan and China, a third place finish in the FIA Endurance LMP1 classification would be enough to win the championship after the 6 Hours of Fuji race. The Lola-Toyota #13 chassis, damaged two weeks ago during the third free practice session of the 6 Hours of Bahrain, was sent to the UK to be repaired the day after the Bahrain race. The repaired tub arrived on Wednesday afternoon at the Fuji track. The re-building of the car started during that evening and the car will be ready for the first official free practice sessions scheduled on Friday. Only the Lola-Toyota #12, with Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost at the wheel, took part in the Test Day organised at the Fuji Speedway yesterday. A good first day of work for the Swiss team who are anticipating a hard day's racing on Sunday with their two Toyota (TMG) engine powered LMP1 cars battling with three Honda (HPD) engine powered LMP1 cars. A promising 2 vs 3 for the two engine manufacturers on the ground of their homeland... but in the Toyota's backyard. Bart Hayden REBELLION Racing Team Manager : « We are closer than ever to winning the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams. But nothing is final, yet. The spare chassis has been repaired in the UK and is now being completely rebuilt at the Fuji circuit here in Japan to race as car #13. It's a big job for the team to complete before being able to race in the 6 Hours of Fuji. However, we're all very happy to be racing here in Japan and also as motivated as ever to get the team trophy win.” The 6 Hours of Fuji race will start Sunday 14th of October at 11:00, local time, 3:00 AM (GMT).
  8. Rebellion Racing reinforces its lead in the FIA Trophy for LMP1 teams with a double podium - 4th and 5th places overall at the 2012 6 Hours of Bahrain - 2nd and 3rd in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams - Nicolas Prost and Neel Jani move to 4th in the FIA WEC Drivers World Championship After the toughest race of the season due to extreme heat and high humidity, Lotus-Rebellion Racing finishes the 6 Hours of Bahrain in fourth and fifth place overall, 2nd and 3rd in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams. The 6 Hours of Bahrain saw for the sixth time in six races both Lola B12/60 Toyotas taking the chequered flag proving the high level of reliability of the Lotus-Rebellion Racing cars. In endurance racing, minor issues can have a big impact on the final race result. Along with many other competitors (including Audi Sport and Toyota Racing), Lotus-Rebellion Racing had to deal with minor electrical problems during the race that prevented the Swiss team from making it onto the third step of the overall podium. Problems with the illuminated side number panels on both cars forced the team to stop for repairs, costing precious time in the pits. The Lola-Toyota #12 car driven by Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost was strongly running in third place overall with one lap over the #21 HPD-Honda when the Race Director instructed the car to pit for repair after the three hour mark. The sister car, #13 driven by Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat was successfully recovering after starting from the back of the grid and was P6 overall when same issue checked its progression. In these stressfull and demanding conditions, the Toyota RV8KLM engines from Toyota Motorsport GmbH proved once again their performance and reliability. Michelin provided a first class service with quick, consistant and durable tyres even with extreme heat and harsh track conditions. REBELLION Racing now heads to the 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan with the aim of securing the win in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams. After the 6 Hours of Bahrain, REBELLION Racing has a 37 point lead over Stakka Racing and a maximum of 50 points is available in the last two rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Japan and China. Bart Hayden Lotus-Rebellion Racing Team manager : "It could have been a slightly better result for the team, but the weekend in Bahrain has positives in many ways. We had both cars on the LMP1 Privateer podium, that rewards the hard work of the whole team. The team endured extreme conditions throughout the week, the guys made no mistakes during the pit stops and had a lot of work to do in rebulding a complete car in only 24 hours prior to the warm-up. We are closer than ever to winning the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP1 Teams. Both cars finished the race in good condition and that is important for the next fly-away races in Japan and the USA. #12 and the spare car will fly to Fuji. The spare car will be repaired and rebuilt in Japan to race there as #13. The #13 that we raced here in Bahrain will fly to Atlanta for Petit Le Mans where it will run as #12."
  9. As the only opportunity to test on the unique Le Mans 24 Hours circuit, the test day was of paramount importance ahead of the race next week. The team’s six drivers, Nick Heidfeld, Neel Jani, Nicolas Prost in the Lola-Toyota #12 and Andrea Belicchi, Harold Primat and Jeroen Bleekemeolen at the wheel of the #13 completed scheduled work programme, thus carrying out important development work with the new Le Mans aero kit and gathering valuable data for the engineers in the team, TMG and Michelin. Andrea Belicchi, Harold Primat and Jeroen Bleekemolen aboard Lola-Toyota #13 set the fastest laptime of the petrol/privateer field in the afternoon session, as the car was third fastest in the morning session. The sister Lola-Toyota car #12 ended the day with the second fastest laptime in the morning session and the third fastest in the afternoon. The REBELLION Racing team were satisfied with the Le Mans test day. All the latest developments pleased the drivers and the engineers were reassured about the potential of the car and its line of progression for the forthcoming Le Mans 24 Hours race. REBELLION Racing will compete at the 80th edition of Le Mans 24 Hours aiming for a podium finish whilst battling for top Privateer and petrol powered honours, repeating last year’s and recent successes. REBELLION Racing is heading to Le Mans 24 Hours, next week, as the leader of the FIA World Endurance Championship LMP1 Trophy for best Privateer Team with 37 points and a 1-2 finish at the last round, the 6 Hours of Spa. REBELLION Racing finished as the best petrol powered car in last year edition of Le Mans 24 Hours, a result that helped the team to finish the season as the best Privateer in the team classification behind Peugeot’s and Audi’s factory teams. Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager: "The latest improvements on the cars are all pointing in the right direction and should help us improve our performance at the 24 Hours race. We will focus on our races and work hard to target the best position overall, we consider repeating 2011 result as a minimum target. One of our main competitor, the #15 OAK Racing car endured a severe shunt during morning session. We are saddened that Guillaume Moreau has suffered an injury in his back. Our thoughts are with him, his family and the whole OAK Racing team. We wish him a full recovery and hope to see him back as soon as possible." Andrea Belicchi, Lola-Toyota #13 : «I am pleased with our work today but it was not easy for me to be 100% focused. The hearthquake in Italy have touched particularly my homeplace, and a lot of my family and friends have been involved. My whole house has been destroyed. That's why I'm living a difficult time. When I am behind the wheel I completly forget these problems and I'm happy to do my job and trying to improve the car for the race. I'm going to take a few days off and next week, I'll be 100% focused to the race !» Nick Heidfeld, Lola-Toyota #12 : My last, and only one, participation at Le Mans was in 1999. It is far away from now. As I had no memories from the track, for me it is as if I was beginning from scratch. This session was important for me beacause I had to run 10 laps to qualify for the race... and to learn a bit more about the track. That I did in the morning. My first feeling is that driving on Le Mans track is more fun that I remembered ! We had less down force on the car than for the previous races of the season. I had not as much traffic as I experienced on the other tracks that are shorter. And I had some good clear laps, too. So I had good conditions to drive on this so particular track... and to appreciate it ! I now can’t wait to be back next week for the main event ! »
  10. The past weeks have been turbulent as the news broke that an Administrator had been appointed at Lola Cars International Limited and Lola Composites Limited. We hope that a positive outcome will emerge from the Administration period. For ourselves, at REBELLION Racing, our focus is very much that the show must go on and so we are focussed on the challenges ahead. REBELLION Racing will work with the companies that have been part of the vast array of subcontract suppliers to Lola Cars International and we will continue campaigning our two Lola-Toyota B12/60 coupes for the rest of the season with the aim of securing the 2012 FIA Endurance Trophy for the best private LMP1 team. REBELLION Racing will compete at the 80th edition of Le Mans 24 Hours with the team’s two updated Lola-Toyota B12/60 coupes aiming for a podium finish whilst battling for top Privateer and petrol powered honours, repeating last year’s and recent successes. The team will introduce from this weekend, during Le Mans Test Day, a new low downforce aerodynamic package on both of the cars. It is an update produced by Lola for the new Lola-Toyota B12/60 coupes, successfully introduced during the last FIA WEC round at Spa last month, in order to fit with the Le Mans track’s main requirements: low drag and high top speed. REBELLION Racing finished as the best petrol powered car in the 2011 edition of Le Mans 24 Hours, a result that helped the team to finish the season as the best Privateer in the championship behind Peugeot’s and Audi’s factory teams. REBELLION Racing is heading to this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours as the leader of the FIA WEC LMP1 Trophy for best Privateer Team with 37 points and a 1-2 finish at the last round, the 6 Hours of Spa. Sunday’s official test will be intense as the team have scheduled, on top of other requirements, specific work programmes for the new aero kit, for tyres choices and strategy with Michelin and for engine development with TMG. Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager : « This Sunday’s Le Mans Test Day is a rare occasion to test the cars on the Le Mans 24 Hours track, especially the newly resurfaced part on the Mulsanne straight, so it is very important for us to have both cars fitted with the 2012 « Le Mans » aero kit, as scheduled. We have a detailed programme of work for each of the two cars to gain as much information as possible after their first outing at Spa last month and to compare the on-track performance to the simulations. If the rain comes on Sunday we will have to deal with it like we did at Spa last month. If we are missing data on the dry after Sunday’s test, it will be the same for everyone! In any case, I think we are ready where we wanted to be.
