Lotus driver Tony Kanaan finished fourth today in the Edmonton Indy on the new 2.256-mile, 13-turn Edmonton City Centre Airport temporary street circuit in Edmonton, Canada. Teammate E. J. Lotus will develop an aerodynamic package for the next-generation Dallara Indycar in 2012, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine confirms. The historic British brand, which won the Indianapolis 500 in 1965, is already giving the KV Racing Technology team financial backing and technical assistance for this year's IndyCar Series. It now plans to take advantage of the rule that allows teams to develop their own aerodynamic for the new Dallara one-make Indycar that will come on stream in 2012. The 2011 Indy Car finale was red flagged and finally cancelled after a horrendous multi-car pile up on Lap 11 resulted in the tragic death of 2005 champion and father of two, Dan Wheldon.
