TheRon Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Round 13 - Got knocked off first corner, but was able to continue and overtook 3 cars but couldn't catch the main pack. Round 14 - Avoided a spinner at the start and then a great 20 min fight with a pack of 4 cars climbing all over each other. This championship is so close - qualifying positions from 6th to 17th were separated by less than 1 second ! Full report and video here: http://theronracing.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/mallory.html A two week gap and then I'm in a team for the 6 hour Birkett relay race at Silverstone. Austen had a good result in his championship but a very dramatic race as his Birkett team mate tried to mount his car and ended up putting tyres marks all over his roll cage - there are pictures and video on Austen's facebook page but I don't think I can link directly to them here. I'm sure there'll be on his blog soon enough: http://www.austengreenway.co.uk/
Daniel Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Well done Tim. Sorry we didn't get to see your races, as we were right after you both times. Is 11th your best finish yet then? Austen managed to finish his second race with a new bonnet and underwear Here he is being driven over by his fellow Birkett team mate, oops.
MilesH Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Tim - great saecond race to watch - you really are having a great first season! I got a text from Dan on Saturday and all I read was the first bit that said 'Austen has been driven over!', it's amazing what goes through your head as I'd forgottne he was at Mallory!!!
M111 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Well done Tim. Sorry we didn't get to see your races, as we were right after you both times. Is 11th your best finish yet then? Austen managed to finish his second race with a new bonnet and underwear Here he is being driven over by his fellow Birkett team mate, oops. Fantastic picture. We were stood just to the right, right next to the 'bus-stop' when this happened. There was a third car which squeezed the blue (Westfield/Indy/MK?) causing the accident, which is out of this shot but retired just around the corner. This was my son's first outing to watch motor racing and this was the first accident he saw He wanted to know if they got paid to race.. and did they get money even if they didn't win. lol
Daniel Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 There you go, a small edited down version. Basically upon leaving the hairpin Austen missed a gear and the black/blue car ever so slightly nudged him as he tried to dive to the right for the overtake ... then chaos.Hope that you all enjoyed the racing
