Does anyone know this 1968 Elan? (Story & photos).

Does anyone know anything of this Lotus Elan?

My father in law owned it up until ~2010, when it was sold by Paul Matty (possibly you so done in the Birmingham area).

The car was passed on to my FiL in ~1994 when his brother passed away. His brother bought the car from a guy that rebuilt it in the early 1980’s. - this chap and his son are currently really I nterested in what happened to it, as am I and my FiL. 

A few photos of it when rebuilt in the 80’s and when it was sold by Paul Matty sportscars.
