Bloody window again

 

Had the car since September last year, and within 2 months the window had to be rebonded twice. But then the delaership are pants, so no surprise there.

 

Moved dealerships. Had the window bonded 3 times and a new regulator fitted. Lasted 6 weeks after regulator fitted and driver's window failed again. It was rebonded last Thursday, and failed the next day. Now facing yet another day next week without the car.

 

Getting pretty pissed off with it all. Not the new dealerhsips fault, and I cannot criticise the service I have had at all, but there must be something fundemntally wrong with the mechanism for it to continually pop out of the runners. Have got a 3/4" gap at the front, so get wet when it rains. Cannot drop the window when the sun is out either.

 

I know it is such a little thing, (the window problem that is, nothing else before you start!), but it is getting very very very irritating.

Maybe part of the window mechanism is bent so even when the window is glued back in, it doesn't sit right, i'd take it apart yourself and have a good hard look at it..i'm sure theres a guide somewhere that shows you how to take it all apart and rebond the window. Also does the dealer let the glue set before giving you the car/operating the window?? Its also sounds that the window isn't adjusted properly as you've got a 3/4" gap, i'd take to a specialist if i were you someone who cars about the car as much as you. someone like Bruce, Sinclairs or at a push as i dont think they will have done many yet Team Proactive.

The window is still being looked at under warranty, thankfully. The dealer is doing its best, and they were hoping that someone from lotus was going to be there this week to have a look at it. The only reason there is a gap, is due to the fact it is out of the runner (again).

 

I have also waited before using the window to let the bond set, as is normal!

 

Lets see what happens next week. I have emailed Lotus to see if they can shed any light on it ... be a bit of a wait for a response, me thinks!
