Used Car Check Findings

Hi-

 

As per the thread I started the other day I have had my Elise go through a used car check before signing on the dotted.

Nick Whales found the following, nothing major - would appreciate any comments:

 

-Slight rust inside front headlights (presume there is a metal ring around light?)

 

-Rear bump-stops splitting (how easy is this for me to replace myself?)

 

-Exhaust Flexi pipe webbing broken (as above..)

 

-Slight play in steering rack (rack replaced by Horizon a couple of months ago so will take it back under warranty to be sorted)

 

-Oil leak - probably from rocker cover gasket (I am told by a mate this is not under pressure so won't bother about it....)

 

-Exhaust knocking on under tray - (assume I need to just lower it a little and re-fix???)

 

 

So all in all just little problems so all is good with me getting my first Lotus. Can't wait. Already talking to mate with Caterham about doing Lands End - JoG.

Any comments on getting the above sorted???

Hmm, headlights are reasonably easy - a bit of a pain, the units are about £40 each.

 

Bump stops - <shrug>

 

Flexi section - expensive if it goes.

 

Steering rack - sorted as you say.

 

Oil Leak - err, any kind of oil leak is bad in my book!

 

Exhaust - sounds like an odd one, maybe the rubbers gone?

I think some remedial action will be taken on the flexi.
