jeffers Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 have a look on the packard bell site. if theres no disc supplied then there probably a recovery partition on the hard drive. Should be info on their site how to start the recovery process. Whats actually broken? Probably doesnt need a restore, most things are easily fixed.

S1 Steve Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 Hi been playing around with laptop and can now use msn messanger, so it is conecting to my wireless network, but when opening internet nothing happens or it freezes still cant open system tools/ restore
gerags Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Did she have it from new ? If so, she will have had to set up the accounts & (administrator) password herself. If she hasn't set one then it could well be blank. Try using the account name "administrator" with no password.
Scott_Mac Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Assuming given the age it runs Windows XP, can you get hold of a copy of XP from somewhere, doesn't need to be a legit copy as you'll only be using for a repair.. put the CD in, boot from it and when prompted ask to do a full repair of the primary partition.. After that is done, if you're still in the same position then there are a couple of things that can be tried...
S1 Steve Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 thanks for the replies will try that scott mac. funny thing is msn messanger will work but explorer wont?? so it could just be the explorer software thats gone potty. thanks steve
