My rubberised inner sill covers are quite scratched up and I’d like to try and do something with them. I fear I’m between a rock and a hard place with them! I’ve tried isopropyl alcohol but this just removes the rubber coating so that’s not ideal. Also I’ve tried using a hairdryer to heat up the rubber which seems to be a popular option but that hasn’t worked at all.

I’d like to keep the rubberised finish and not go down the route of leather or carbon covered.

Anybody been in the same situation and got a happy result?

Thanks for that winthattt. Just had a look and it says it has a rugged finish for an anti slip finish.

how did yours come out?

I’m looking to get as close to factory finish as I can hence why I’m not keen to introduce aftermarket leather or carbon sills but starting to realise that my options might be very limited. It’s a shame they can’t be re- rubberised.

After another quick google I’ve found a company Sticky Plastics that can re-coat the old rubber.

I’ll let you know how I get on…….

When I applied it, it was pretty good it did not have the soft rubber texture but was not gritty either. I think black stove paint is even better, Morse brand, it was a long time ago!

It’s easy to buy some cans and try on some card.

Sticky plastics look interesting, shipping a long way though.

I think the stove paint was this.

Assuming your sills are the same as the one's on my Lotus S (2015), I understand they can be replaced by [expensive] Lotus leather covered ones. I went to Allon White in Cranfield https://www.allonwhite.co.uk/ as they have a Coach Trimming Workshop for Morgan's; they covered my sills with beautiful leather with hand stitched edging which looks amazing. The problem with the original plasticised covering is that you can catch a heal on them and they can then break and peel, leaving ugly scars. The leather ones they make at Allon White are still costly but not outrageously so. They did them whilst I waited which was also a bonus. You'll need to satisfy yourself that they are a suitable option and quality as an alternative to the rubber finish. All I can say is that mine were perfect.

I considered this and they are indeed, excellent, as is all AW work. Get them to do the gear cover tunnel as well.
